A grandmother in Michigan shocked the internet by cooking some beef stew. How so? The beef stew had been stored for four years. Surprisingly, at least according to the woman, the ingredients were just fine, and she appeared to have a wonderful meal.
The “aged” beef stew cooking was shared online by Grandma’s House. She is a content creator focused on cooking, food preservation, and canning. The clip attached above, in just a few days, became her biggest one yet. It garnered 14,2 million views, 805,000 likes, and close to 21,000 comments.
The Michigan woman, while kneeling, grabbed the chosen jar from her pantry shelf. While a bit dusty, the jar clearly said that it had been sealed back in October 2022. It was only a month away from turning four years old. Inside it, as Grandma’s House explained, was some beef stew.

On the kitchen counter, she opened the jar with what she labeled a “nice sound.” Then, she smelled the beef stew and showed it to the camera. According to her, it smelled “good.” And while shocking, properly canned food, such as beef stew, can last for many years.
Therefore, Grandma’s House was ready to bring the stew back to life. She started by heating the stew in its own juices and then added some salt, pepper, and a pack of brown gravy mix. The stew started to thicken, and it arguably looked appetizing.
“Four-year-old beef stew mix that has sat on my pantry shelf. Look how delicious,” the Michigan grandma said.

Others, however, correctly argued that there was nothing wrong with the stew, even though it was four years old.
