A couple in Ohio visited an art museum where a Vincent Van Gogh exhibit was taking place. They had the chance to talk to an AI-powered interactive version of the 18th-century painter, but soon found out that he had little to say other than “Hello.” This AI is replacing no one anytime soon.

The clip was shared online by Katie, who goes by cheersitskatie online. She is a streamer who regularly shares clips of her playing a variety of games, including Baldur’s Gate 3. This time around, however, she decided to visit the Van Gogh Exhibit in Ohio, which is described as an immersive experience. The clip attached above became viral, garnering 3.6 million views, 737,000 likes, and close to 3,000 comments.

The Ohio woman was standing right in front of an AI-powered Vincent Van Gogh, whose whole purpose was to talk to those assisting the exhibit. As a result, a man who appears to be Katie’s boyfriend figured he would love to have a lovely chat with one of the most influential painters in history.

“Hey, bingo. What’s up, big dog? I just want to know, like, how many years you were alive, you know what I’m saying?” the man asked.

Vincent took a bit to think about his answer and then responded, “Hello.”

Hello Extravaganza

Multiple “Hellos” followed, and the man tried to intervene again. He was cut off by yet another “Hello” and apologized, saying, “I’m sorry, man, I didn’t mean to interrupt you. Uh… you can go ahead.”

“Hello,” Vincent said.

Katie and her boyfriend broke out in laughter at the overly introductory Van Gogh. For a final time, the man tried to get the painter to talk, saying, “I appreciate you introducing yourself. How many years were you alive? I’ll let you continue.”

A brief silence that felt like an eternity followed. Finally, Vincent said, “Hello.” And again, the couple laughed, and Katie sarcastically captioned the clip, “AI is gonna replace us all.”

Reactions

Many viewers found the clip hilarious, reacting accordingly with equally humorous remarks. One said, “I think you’re speaking into his bad ear.” Another one commented, “He was alive for hello years.”

Others found the AI version of Van Gogh insulting to his memory. One wrote, “He’d have hated this.” Another one added, “AI in an art museum is insane.”

The real Vincent Van Gogh ended up living for 37 years. He died in France after shooting himself in the chest.
