World Bosses are Diablo 4‘s versions of raid bosses, and as expected, they’re tough and usually require dozens of players to slay. Even then, some truly broken builds and godly Nephalems might make quick work of them in just a few minutes (or even faster). So you’ll want to be there for the World Boss locations to participate and get a chance at the rewards. Our guide is here to help you find all World Boss locations in Diablo 4 along with their spawn times so you can at least get a single hit in.
World Boss Types and Locations in Diablo 4
[Updated on September 3, 2024 – Added more detail and accurate information to the guide]
Currently, there are three World Bosses in Diablo 4 and they can all spawn in one of the five pre-set locations in the game. They don’t spawn just about anywhere in the open world, and they also don’t stay long after spawning.
You can unlock World Bosses once you’ve finished the Campaign in Diablo 4. In any case, the three World Bosses in Diablo 4 are as follows:
- Ashava, the Pestilent
- Avarice, the Gold Cursed
- Wandering Death
Any of these three World Bosses can spawn in any of these five locations:
- Fractured Peaks – The Crucible
- Scosglen – Caer Adar
- Dry Steppes – Saraan Caldera
- Hawezar – Fields of Desecration
- Kehjistan – Seared Basin
For reference, here’s where World Bosses can spawn in the game’s five regions:
If the World Boss timer or notification doesn’t appear even if you’ve gone to the locations above, that means the World Boss is still far from its spawn time. Each World boss or each location has a specific spawn timer.
World Boss Spawn Timer in Diablo 4
World Bosses in Diablo 4 appear at an interval of 3.5 hours. There’s usually only one active World Boss every 3.5 hours and no two bosses can appear at the same time. The game will notify you of the World Boss location one hour before the boss appears.
Each World Boss can also appear thrice in a row or twice in a row depending on the interval or whose turn is it to appear.
Once the World Boss appears, you and other players have 15 minutes to slay the boss, otherwise, it will leave. It’s recommended to fight World Bosses in Seasonal Servers instead of Eternal Servers since there usually aren’t enough players in the latter. You can also choose to solo the World Boss if you can.
Bear in mind that World Bosses have been buffed and now have more HP than ever since Diablo 4 update 1.2.0.
Diablo 4 World Boss Rewards
So what it’s all for? What’s the point of fighting the World Bosses in Diablo 4? Well, other than the fact that World Bosses are some of the most spectacular fights in the game and can give you a sense of multiplayer cooperation, each World Boss can also give you a weekly cache or Weekly Bonus Spoils.
That’s a total of three Weekly Caches per week if you manage to kill all three different World Bosses. That’s why the boss rotation exists, giving players a chance to farm all three bosses as their weekly goal.
These Weekly Caches will reward you with something rare or something expensive that your character can use, hopefully. Apart from that, each World Boss will always drop at least one piece of Legendary gear.
Diablo 4 World Boss Farming Tips
Since Diablo 4 bosses don’t exactly appear as often as you might prefer, you need to make it count by being prepared or knowing some tips beforehand. If you die while fighting the World Boss, other players can revive you, but they’d be putting themselves in danger.
Moreover, if all of you expect to get carried by a heroic Barbarian, Rogue, or Necromancer, that will typically result in poor performance and you might fail the World Boss encounter. Thus, consider these tips.
- Use your Elixirs and Incense
- Make sure you have capped armor (9,230) and resistances (70% each)
- Make sure your gear is at maximum Durability
- Have at least 15,000 HP
- If you’re not at max level yet, avoid fighting the World Boss in melee range
- There’s no damage threshold needed that will increase your reward
- Don’t stay in one spot
- Don’t die more than nine times
- Keep track of your Weekly Caches
Moreover, Diablo 4‘s World Bosses are supposed to be a group activity, don’t be too antisocial — revive some downed players. It’s not a contest of who deals the most damage, there’s a PvP location for that after all.
