A California woman had what she calls a “disappointing experience” in front of a Los Angeles grocery store. According to her, a group of women looked at her, laughed, and targeted her with a racist remark. When she spoke out against it, it started a heated confrontation.
Shared on Misaki’s personal TikTok account (Misaki_miyu), according to Misaki, a group of women allegedly walked past her, laughed, and said “ching chong.” Misaki confronts the women about it, given that she’s Asian, which launches a back-and-forth. One of the women gets in Misaki’s face and loudly states, “It wasn’t about you!”
The woman alleges they never said that toward Misaki and her group of friends. She claims they were having an unrelated conversation when Misaki walked by. Then the woman’s brother confronts Misaki about it and repeats over and over again, “[Expletive] cry about it.” That’s when the woman puts her hands on Misaki, smacking the phone out of her hand, which she quickly retrieves.
Misaki backs up from the large group, screaming, “Don’t touch me! Okay?” As Misaki is trying to defend herself against the group, the group of 7+ people are all yelling at her simultaneously in an overwhelming confrontation. The woman who put her hands on Misaki says, “You weren’t in the conversation. Go the [expletive] that way and stop acting like it was about you.” She continues to push Misaki away and try to knock her phone out of her hand.
On TikTok, someone accused Misaki of wrongdoing as well, claiming they had been present during the confrontation and overhearing Misaki calling some of the family a “wet bag” and to go back to their country. This doesn’t reflect the video itself, but the commenter also claims Misaki “edited the video.”
People online rush to defend Misaki
Most of the comments were in support of Misaki, and recommended she seek legal counsel, considering one of the woman in the group had assaulted her. “Please press charges and I’m so sorry,” one of the top comments reads.
Several other commenters suggested doing the same—taking it to the police as assault and a hate crime. To this, someone pointed out it was bizarre the family would get so hostile so quickly, arguing they “handled that situation so wrong.” Due to them being “aggressive for no reason,” they were led to believe Misaki was telling the truth.
In the comment section, a personal friend of Misaki’s also chimed in, claiming “me n her, we were tg” when the confrontation happened.“This is honestly disgusting people are so comfortable with being racist,” one commenter chimed in with, condemning the family’s alleged actions.
In a closing comment by Misaki, she wrote in her TikTok video’s caption that people can “do better and treat each other with respect” and that “racism is not humor.”
