Wayfinder provides players with a varied roster of characters with unique abilities, so some will be better suited to a particular character or another. Fortunately, from the story’s beginning, the game gives you the choice of a character to learn the game’s mechanics. Besides, Wayfinder doesn’t give you only one character, and that’s it; it gives you three different options for your starting character, so you can choose your favorite or the one you think is the best. Before choosing your Gloom explorer, you need to know each one’s skills if you want to survive out there.
Choose Your Character
In Wayfinder, you can choose between three different units to start your adventure and discover the secrets hidden in the Gloom. These are all your character options:
- Wingrave
This warrior is the classic Tank with heavy armor and sturdy weapons to deal with the hordes of enemies. This while your companions, if you play in co-op, exterminate the monsters in each dungeon. - Niss
If you prefer to play with rouge or ninja-style characters, Niss can control shadows, and her primary weapons are daggers. Her specialty is to do a lot of damage at short range. - Silo
For ranged combat, apply some debuffs to do damage over time. Silo is your man. This gunslinger is an excellent choice if you prefer to damage from afar and help your teammates.
Who is the Best Starting Character?
If we take an overall look at all the mechanics and kits of each starting character individually, and if you are just getting familiar with Wayfinder, the best starting character is Wingrave. Usually, being a Tank has a certain level of difficulty in many games, but Wingrave’s skills are well-balanced, he is easy to use, and he can heal himself and your allies. So, these healing skills can be a crucial differentiator for new players to survive longer in their first dungeons and bosses.
We want to clarify that Wingrave is a handy character. However, it will also depend a lot on each player’s personal preferences and skills. If you think a Tank may be too slow for you, you can try any of your other two options. Don’t worry so much about your initial choice; you can get all three starting Wayfinders at the end of the tutorial and then change your character. Also, you can get another one of the characters relatively early in the game.
