Originally teased during the Summer Game Fest season 2 trailer for Street Fighter 6, M. Bison made his menacing return to the series and will join the cast very soon. Bison Got a longer trailer the following day that showed his design in more detail along with gameplay. He is seen riding a horse into fights and always has his arms crossed, even while climbing off the horse, which is a weird flex. The leader of Shadaloo has gotten even more intimidating because of his tattered attire and unkempt look. Gone is his prim and clean red suit, replaced by a tarp and a handsome black horse. But it doesn’t stop there, because M. Bison in Street Fighter 6 is broken in more ways than one.
Bison is known for his uncanny aversion to death, which is why he keeps finding his way back from the grave. He has done it once again in Street Fighter 6, but this time he has a lot of new abilities to play with compared to his past iterations.
M. Bison Gets New Powers in Season 2 of Street Fighter 6
His signature moves will return in a similar psycho-powered fashion like his Double Knee Press, Shadow Rise, and even Psycho Crusher, which was omitted from his Street Fighter V iteration. He has also gained a couple of new moves that expand his combat abilities and give him more options in neutral and on wake-up.
On the flip side, Bison has lost the ability to teleport like in Street Fighter 4, and his dashes from Street Fighter V. He no longer has any way of vanishing and showing up somewhere else with that maniacal smile on his face.
Those who have played as him in the past know that he is a charged character through and through. But in Street Fighter 6, Bison’s Double Knee Press will be a motion move, not a charge move. This doesn’t mean that all his moves are motions, however, because he will still retain a couple of those. This is the result of a change in Street Fighter 6 which has seen most charge characters gain a non-charge more to improve their mobility.
M. Bison Will Be Planting Bombs Like It’s Counter-Strike
Every character in Street Fighter 6 has some extra sauce, an interesting gimmick that makes them unique and adds to their gameplay or strategy. Like Ryu has his Denjin Charge which allows him to enhance his Hadoken or Hashogeki and Ken has his run which provides mobility and combo extensions. M. Bison is no different, as he also gets a unique ability that completely changes his game plan.
The move in question is called Backfist which allows him to place a Psycho Bomb inside his opponent that detonates after a set time or after landing certain special moves allowing for combo extensions. What makes this really scary is the mixup potential that the Psycho Bomb offers and how it can make otherwise minus situations 0 on block, or possibly even plus. This bomb also makes his ex-specials more powerful by adding follow-up animations that stack up the damage. So Bison’s game plan is to tag his opponent with the bomb as soon as possible, and when done, mix them up to land big damage.
That’s not where his broken abilities stop, however, because M. Bison likely has the second fastest drive rush in the game right behind DJ. His walk speed is also second only to Akuma and Chun-Li, which have the fastest walk speed in the game. This, combined with his busted normals, will make his ground game extremely oppressive and tricky.
Why is M. Bison Looking Homeless?
If you aren’t a fan of the tattered cape homeless look, you can use the classic costume that makes him look like he used to in previous games. You will be able to unlock it for free through the World Tour mode by becoming his student and leveling up the relationship to 100%. M. Bison may look the same, but if the trailer is anything to go by, he no longer remembers who he is, and just adopted the name M. Bison when someone called him that.
In the right hands, Bison is going to be an absolute menace, all eyes are on ProblemX now. Other characters coming in Season 2 of Street Fighter 6 were revealed during Summer Game Fest and they are Terry and Mai from Fatal Fury, and Elena from Street Fighter 3 Third Strike and 4.
M. Bison comes out in Street Fighter 6 on June 26, 2024, and can be played by anyone who has purchased the season pass or the ultimate pass. He can be bought individually as well if you’re not interested in the other season 2 characters, and he can also be rented for an hour if you’re still on the fence and want to try him out before taking the plunge. One thing’s for certain though, the psycho power-wielding villain is back, and he is stronger than ever.
