Jump Into The Paldea Region in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet!
The new Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trailer provided a deeper look into the finer gameplay mechanics of the game. At about 14 minutes in length, the new trailer shows off what players can expect as they journey through the Paldea region, overviewing the three storylines that they can choose to experience: Starfall Street, the Path of Legends, and the Victory Road.
The new trailer gave a glimpse at the Terastal phenomenon and revealed that Trainers can find Wild Tera Pokemon on their journey. A Pokemon’s Tera type can be any one of the 18 types and is not restrictive to certain Pokemon players can encounter.
Some of the biggest news for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet comes from the broader assortment of options players can access. These include the ability to take screenshots with their Pokemon and build a profile page to share with players around the world. Players can customize their appearance as well, including the hairstyle, skin color, clothing, accessories, and more. The game’s online features allow them to communicate easily with friends locally.
The multiplayer options for the game allow Trainers to participate in Raid Battles against strong wild Tera Pokemon and have the chance to catch them and explore the overworld with friends.
The trailer also gave a look at a brand new Pokemon, Farigiraf, a Normal/Psychic type evolution of Girafarig. It is known as the Long Neck Pokemon, is 3.2 meters, weighs, 160 kilograms, and has two new Abilities: Cud Chew and Armor Tail. Armor prevents opposing Pokemon from using priority moves against it, while Cud Chew allows it to use a Berry again after its turn with the same effect. The last new Pokemon revealed for the game was Wiglett.
During the showcasing of the minimap, three potential new Pokemon were also shown, though the Pokemon Company has not made any official announcement regarding their names or Types nor acknowledged them.
The picnic mechanics have replaced the curry mechanic from Pokemon Sword and Shield. Players can have them almost anywhere in Paldea and change their design and setup to their liking. Different sandwiches have different effects, and players can also wash their Pokemon to strengthen their friendship with them, as well as have picnics with other players.
Finally, it was revealed in the trailer than Trainers will be able to make their own Technical Machines (TMs) at any Pokemon Center in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. They will have to make sure of League Points (LP) gathered by advancing the story and materials obtained by defeating Wild Pokemon. They can only use one TM at a time but can make as many as they’d like with the right materials.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be released on November 18, 2022, exclusively 18 for Nintendo Switch, and pre-orders are available now.
