Of all places in California, we all know that Los Angeles is the one most likely to have unexpected events, and well, something chaotic certainly happened not long ago at a supermarket. A Reddit user shared a video of an altercation inside a Ralph’s in California, where a customer with a dog, which was clearly unfit to be there, was met by a security guard who, instead of de-escalating the situation, pulled out his firearm, hoping to “control” the problem.
The video, shared by a user EmeraldAllie, which has now gone viral all over Reddit, shows a customer entering a Ralph’s with a big dog next to him. While normally this wouldn’t be seen as something bad, several have mentioned that this wasn’t a service dog, which means that a dog of this size shouldn’t be inside the establishment. Given the situation, the security guard approached the customer, trying to tell him that the dog was not allowed inside. Yet, the security guard reacted in ways that no one was expecting.
After trying to get the customer out of this Ralph’s in California, the security guard pulled out his firearm, holding it close to him, while he argued with the man with the dog. While the security guard didn’t do anything with the firearm, several people got scared about it. You can even see how another customer, who many have labeled as careless, tried to step in to defuse the situation, but did so by approaching the armed guard.
Eventually, both customers managed to get the guard to holster his firearm, and at this point, the man with the dog entered the door, which many also found ironic, as that’s what the security guard was trying to prevent in the first place.
Given the chaos surrounding the event, many people started pointing out that those involved reacted poorly.
California Redditors Criticize Those Involved in the Altercation
Since this video has been shared almost everywhere, especially on social media channels around Los Angeles, many viewers have started pointing out the mistakes of those involved in the messy event.
“So many wrongs in one video. The owner who illegally brought a large pet dog into a grocery store; the security who needlessly escalated by pulling his firearm; and the guy who was yelling and swearing while he pulled his face closer and closer to the guard…“
While many think the man with the dog was the main culprit, several directed their criticism toward the guard, who should not have unholstered his firearm.
“The guard’s reaction was insane.“
“Yeah, I am not trained at all, but this seems way reckless and escalating something that’s not a big deal.“
In the end, many are thankful that no one got hurt, but do think that people should be more mindful about bringing their pets to public spaces, and also believe that some guards should receive proper training.
