A woman in California is drawing attention online after stepping in during a tense interaction between a patient and healthcare workers at a local office. The moment, which was captured on video and shared on TikTok, has sparked discussion about how staff are treated in medical settings.

The video was posted by Yola (@yolapreciosa), where it began gaining traction as viewers reacted to the situation.

let me put it like this, if you are having an EMERGENCY go to the EMERGENCY room. lets not be rude to workers… #foryoupageofficiall

In the clip, a patient can be heard speaking loudly to front desk workers about what she described as an “emergency appointment.” As the employee responds, saying, “I understand,” the patient continues expressing frustration, stating that she had called the number listed online and had driven a long distance to get there.

How Others Reacted

When the worker attempts to explain there may have been a mix-up, the patient responds, “That doesn’t mean [expletive]!!” She then asks where she should go next, saying, “Where?! I just drove an hour to get here.”

At that point, Yola, who is recording the interaction, speaks up and tells the patient, “She’s just doing her job.” The patient then responds by telling her to “shut the [expletive] up.”

As the exchange continues, Yola again addresses the patient, saying, “Ma’am, if you’re in horrible pain, you should go to the ER. She’s just doing her job.” The video shows the patient continuing to raise her voice before eventually leaving the office.

After the interaction, Yola said she initially hesitated to get involved but decided to speak up after hearing how the employee was being addressed.

Some users supported Yola’s decision to intervene, with one commenter writing, “As a healthcare receptionist, thank you for standing up for her.”

Others questioned the situation described in the video, including whether the visit qualified as an emergency. One user wrote, “Drove an hour for an ‘emergency.’ Doesn’t seem that urgent to me.”
