Starfield gives space travel a whole new meaning. Besides a few things that the game is going to be doing differently like New Game Plus, Starfield‘s biggest concern is going to focus on the idea of space travel. It also engulfs you in a science fiction world that will make you want to revisit it again and again. If you want to know the answer to the question of whether you can fly to planets in Starfield, then we’ve got your answer down below!

Another popular game that has to do with space exploration, No Man’s Sky, has a feature that allows you to land on the surface of any planet that you visit so long as you can find an adequately big enough space for your ship to land on. In Starfield, that won’t be the case. Instead, every planet will have designated parking areas in different cities and areas that can be landed on in order to visit that planet. This almost means that you can’t fly low over the planet’s atmosphere in order to admire it from just a short distance above or survey for anything that you might need.

Once you’ve landed in the area that you want, you will have free reign over most of the planet after some considerable distance from your ship. Unfortunately, if you stray too far away, you’ll receive an error message stating that a boundary has been reached and that you must explore another region or return to your ship.

Fortunately, there aren’t any artificial boundaries like random mountains, incredibly deep canals, or wide rivers that limit your ability to truly explore one of the 1,000 planets featured in the game. You won’t be able to use any vehicles on the planets once you’ve disembarked from your ship, so walking is going to be your best friend. There is, however, a Boost Pack that can be used on planets that essentially acts as a jet pack but with its own skill sets.

To go to a planet from your ship, you’ll need to jump to the planet or the moon of your choice from your Starmap. At that point, you can then hit the menu button, select the Starmap, and travel to the moon of the planet you’d like to go to. To actually travel, press and hold the X button on your controller.
