Grow a Garden is one of Roblox‘s most satisfying farming and growing simulator games. All thanks to its crop system that grows even when you’re offline and dynamic weather effects. But if you’re aiming for the perfect high-multiplier harvest, you’ll need to understand how mutations and weather interact. If you have questions about how they work, we’re here to help. Our Roblox Grow a Garden guide covers everything on how Mutations work and how to increase their odds through weather patterns.
How Does Mutation Work?

Crops in Grow a Garden can gain Mutations, transforming them into rarer versions. The basic ones are Wet and Chilled, but there are others like Golden, Shocked, and Rainbow. They mostly depend on weather conditions, but some can appear by chance alone. As of now, there are eight types of Mutated crops, each has a multiplier bonus that increases its value.
Mutation | Money Multiplier | How to Get |
---|---|---|
Wet | x2 | Happens during Rain or Thunderstorm |
Chilled | x2 | Happens during Frost weather |
Choc | x2 | Put a multi-harvest crop next to Chocolate Sprinkler during the Easter Event 2025 |
Frozen | x10 | Wet crops got Chilled or vice versa |
Golden | x20 | 1% chance of a random spawn |
Shocked | x50 | Struck by lightning during Thunderstorm |
Rainbow | x50 | 0.1% chance of a random spawn |
To increase the chance of a Mutation, use Gears like the Advanced Sprinkler or Godly Sprinkler. Still, some tools cannot be used for specific crops. For example, you cannot get Chocolate Carrots or Bamboos because Chocolate Sprinklers only work on multi-harvest crops.
Notably, multi-harvest crops can grow with unseen base Mutations like Big, Rainbow, or Golden. Crops with a base plant with that Mutation can gain additional bonuses, such as more frequent harvests or Mutations on their yields.
Mutations on fruits are stackable, but not all combinations are possible. Rainbow and Golden cannot stack either. Here are all the currently known Mutations you can get in Roblox Grow a Garden:
Mutation Combo | Multiplier Calculation | Total Multiplier |
---|---|---|
Gold + Wet | x20 + x2 | x40 |
Gold + Chilled | x20 + x2 | x40 |
Gold + Choc | x20 + x2 | x40 |
Gold + Frozen | x20 + x10 | x200 |
Gold + Shocked | x20 + x50 | x1,000 |
Gold + Choc + Frozen | x20 + x2 + x10 | x400 |
Gold + Choc + Shocked | x20 + x2 + x50 | x2,000 |
Rainbow + Wet | x50 + x2 | x100 |
Rainbow + Chilled | x50 + x2 | x100 |
Rainbow + Choc | x50 + x2 | x100 |
Rainbow + Frozen | x50 + x10 | x500 |
Rainbow + Shocked | x50 + x50 | x2,500 |
Rainbow + Choc + Frozen | x50 + x2 + x10 | x1,000 |
Rainbow + Choc + Shocked | x50 + x2 + x50 | x5,000 |
Rainbow + Choc + Shocked + Frozen | x50 + x2 + x50 + x10 | x50,000 |
As seen above, having crops with Mutations is essential for faster returns. But can you actually manipulate the weather in your favor?
Can You Change the Weather in Roblox Grow a Garden?

No, unfortunately, you cannot manually change the weather in Roblox Grow a Garden. The weather is globally synced across all servers and cannot be triggered by players. We suggest staying in the game for longer to increase your chances of encountering rare weather patterns.
Speaking of their chances of happening, weather patterns are completely random. From my experience, the game can cycle from Sunny to Rain to Frost and Rain again as frequently as every 10 minutes. The next time, the weather changes sparsely once every 20 minutes or so. Nevertheless, once it occurs, a Thunderstorm usually only lasts around 5 minutes.
Currently, there are three weather types in the game, each with unique effects on crop growth and mutations.
Weather Types and Effects
Weather | Effect | |
---|---|---|
![]() | Rain | Increases growth speed by 25%. 50% chance to apply Wet |
![]() | Thunderstorm | Increases growth speed by 50%. For Mutations, it gives a 50% chance of Wet and gives Shocked if a lightning hits a fruit Lightning Rods can help redirect nearby lightning |
![]() | Frost | Boosts growth and increases the chance of Frozen or Chilled Mutation |
