A Colorado Blink camera captured a car crashing through her property and into her neighbor’s truck, but the biggest surprise came seconds later when a 9-year-old boy allegedly climbed out of the driver’s seat and ran home screaming. According to the homeowner, his mother had been asleep and didn’t know he had taken the vehicle.
Shianne shared the Blink footage on her TikTok account, Shiannemariediaz, along with additional information and context. A white sedan comes into the scene, striking her Blackstone grill and pushing it across the driveway. The vehicle and grill then slam into her neighbor’s pickup truck. You can hear someone screaming during and after the car accident.
Moments after the crash, a 9-year-old boy can be seen getting out from the driver’s side before running away screaming. Shianne said the child had been driving the vehicle and claimed his mother was asleep and unaware that he had taken it. According to Shianne, the boy managed to start the vehicle himself before crashing into her property.
Shianne said police responded to the incident but claimed officers did not make a report. She was particularly frustrated by one officer’s alleged response to her concerns. According to Shianne, the officer told her, “I’m sure you’ve made mistakes as a mother before.”
“I have 3 kids and not once did they drive a car into someone else’s property,” Shianne responded while recounting the encounter.
Viewers Question Police Response to Colorado Crash
Despite the driver being none other than a kid who hasn’t even reached double-digits, people in the comment section of Shianne’s TikTok video suggested pushing the matter to her insurance company. Many viewers urged Shianne to contact her insurance company, although commenters disagreed over whose insurer should ultimately be responsible for the damage.
One commenter didn’t think Shianne would have any issues going forward with insurance. “Well at least you have clear proof to send to the insurance companies.” Another TikTok user suggested taking it furhter by adding, “And CPS.” Shianne liked the comment on TikTok.
Shianne also claimed the boy’s mother had been asleep before the crash and was “mad” after being awakened and told what had happened. The mother’s account of the incident has not been made public.
Shianne’s Blink camera may have answered the biggest question by capturing the crash itself. What remains unclear is how a 9-year-old allegedly ended up behind the wheel in the first place and who will ultimately be responsible for the damage he left behind.
