Jon Bernthal aka Marvel’s The Punisher has been involved in many rumors of coming to the MCU after playing Frank Castle in both The Punisher and Daredevil series. His return has been something fans have wanted for a while now, but it just… hasn’t happened yet. New rumors are making everyone wonder yet again if he could be coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are speculations that he might appear in Daredevil: Born Again.
The Punisher’s Return Could Happen
The speculations of The Punisher returning started after Bernthal’s latest project was officially canceled this week, American Gigolo. The Punisher series got canceled after two seasons on Netflix before it later moved to Disney+, where you can now watch it along with Daredevil and the other Defenders shows. But what really got the rumors going is the American Gigolo show got canceled at the same time that Daredevil: Born Again is supposed to start filming really soon. But the likelihood of this being due to him returning to the MCU isn’t official yet.
Jon Bernthal has expressed in the past how much he loves the role of Frank Castle but that he would only return as The Punisher if they do it right. “So it’s not about whether we do it, it’s about getting it right, and doing the version that the fans really deserve. We’ll see. I mean, all of those decisions are made in rooms I am not invited into… But Frank’s always there, he’s always a part of me. And when we get the call to go, I’ll be ready, and I’ll make sure that I do everything I can to make sure that we do it right, or we won’t do it at all.”
The role of Marvel’s The Punisher is so important to many fans, including the military. Bernthal has always shown deep respect for the role, and we know Frank Castle is in the best hands possible.
