Destiny 2 Lightfall: Release date, rumors, changes, and more
As for the release date, we have already mentioned it will be on the 28th of February, 2023. This information has been publicly available for over two years now. But we are just about now learning new things about Destiny 2 Lightfall. This includes the game’s location, a cyberpunk city on Neptune called Neo Luna. This dystopian setting serves as the theatre for continuing Destiny 2’s storyline in which Calus returns as the main villain alongside his sidekick, The Witness.
Lightfall also introduces a new Darkness subclass called Strand. This powerful green-looking subclass powers Destiny 2 guardian’s movements as they can use it to grapple and swing across the map. Also part of the Lightfall is Guardian Ranks, a feature that introduces new players to all game elements. Depending on their rank —one to eleven — players will be progressively introduced to all the maps, raids, locations, etc. Thus, you don’t have to have played previous versions of Destiny to get into the action.

Bungie has also announced that they will not be removing any past expansions so that new players can also experience the entire story. These new expansions are also freely available starting on August 23. Other quality improvements to look out for are in-game loud outs and a mod manager. In previous versions, Destiny 2 players have had to use third-party tools for these functionalities, so these new additions will only add to the convenience.
Destiny 2: Lightfall will follow the Season of Plunder which began on August 23. It is a pirate-themed season in which players board pirate ships, loot chests, and hunt down pirate leaders.
