It is a popular event in television history. And Discovery Channel makes sure to entertain every year. That’s right, once again it is time for the always toothy event, Discovery’s Shark Week. The well-known documentary channel has a big treat for fans of the pseudo-holiday.

Shark Week Celebrated with Hours of Programming

Shark Week is a television event that many people have fallen in love with. For those who wish to view it, the marathon will run from July 11 until July 18. While each 7-day block the last few decades features the creatures, this year will be a little different. To celebrate more than 30 years of the Discovery Channel event, 45 hours of shark-themed programming is planned. This is more Shark Week time than any previous year featuring the sharp-toothed aquatic creatures. And it’s not all documentary specials either.

In addition, the channel plans to air popular movies such as Jaws and the Sharknado series. These movies will be available across all their platforms.

Those who subscribe to Discovery+ will also be treated to exclusive Shark Week documentaries. Fin, a doc directed by Eli Roth, shows him and others sailing the globe to gain an understanding of the death of thousands of sharks. It will air Thursday, July 13. Additionally, Envoy: Shark Cull will premiere on July 1. It will focus on how important sharks are to our ecosystem.

Be sure to mark the date down on your calendar. Miss this year’s Shark Week, and you’ll have to wait another year for the next one. If you’d like to help out with conservation efforts, here are some resources to explore.

What are you most excited about for Discovery Channel’s Shark Week? Will you focus more on the documentaries? Or will you make sure to binge-watch all that Discovery Channel has to offer? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
