The Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie now has a box office to beat out other anime film competitors. The earning projections for the movie record an estimated $34,932,582 USD after Labor Day weekend. That estimate brings the film above Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which earned $34,542,754 USD. Along with that, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero will be the 4th highest-grossing anime film ever at the US box office.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero opened on over 4,000 screens in over 3,100 theaters. This includes IMAX, 4DX, Dolby Cinemas, MD4d, and DBox in its first weekend. It also earned a total of $3.4 million USD on 327 IMAX screens, setting a new record for anime films.

Tetsuro Kodama directed the film, while Kaoki Sato composed the music. Akira Toriyama, the original creator of the Dragon Ball manga, worked on the film’s original story, screenplay, and character designs.

‘Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero’: Sweeping the Anime Box Office

The anime films that have earned more than Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero are Pokemon: The First Movie, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train, and Pokemon 2000: The Movie. The most recent Dragon Ball movie recently beat out Dragon Ball Super: Broly ($43,896,550 USD) last weekend. Currently, the film is bringing an estimated $2,405,000 USD this weekend, ranking it #9 for this weekend. It is currently below Thor: Love and Thunder and above the re-release of Jaws.

Box Office Mojo lists the film as having made $77,132,582 USD worldwide. The first weekend at the North American box office already marked the Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie as the #6th highest-grossing anime film ever in the US. The film is also opened in Mexico, Argentina, Peru, Ireland, Chile, and other counties outside the US with $12.3 million USD.

Crunchyroll and Sony are currently screening the film in theaters worldwide this summer. The film opened in the US, Canada, the UK, and Ireland on August 19th with English subtitles and an English dub.

Currently, the film is still available in theaters.
