Genshin Impact Version 4.2 is taking the world by storm, adding huge amounts of content. Genshin 4.2 has had a great showing for a smaller patch so far, bringing new bosses, zones, and mechanics. On top of this, this patch also has introduced the highly anticipated Hydro Archon Furina. Being an Archon, many players will instantly want to add her to their teams. Due to this, players will need to level her up, grinding all the Ascension materials to make her the strongest she can be. To do this, players must fight Genshin Impact 4.2’s newest boss, the Hydro Tulpa. For players looking to level Furina, here is a guide on how to defeat the Hydro Tulpa.
Hydro Tulpa Location
While players may expect to find the Hydro Tulpa in the new Fonatine zones, players will actually find the boss in familiar territory. Players will find the boss to the west of the Court of Fontaine, just under Annapausis. Players will need to swim through a small cave entrance, located closer to the water’s surface, leading directly into the boss arena.
Genshin Impact 4.2 Hydro Tulpa Guide
Genshin Impact 4.2’s Hydro Tulpa fight is fairly straightforward, with few special mechanics. The Hydro Tulpa will spawn hydro droplets throughout the fight, which will attack the player. These creatures can be easily defeated using Elemental Reactions, though letting them build up over time can cause problems for the players. If the hydro droplets are alive for too long, Genshin Impact 4.2’s new boss will absorb one, becoming much stronger than before. All it takes is one droplet for Hydro Tulpa to get its buff, so players will want to focus on keeping a clean battlefield.
Regarding attack patterns, Genshin Impact 4.2’s Hydro Tulpa fight is once again very simple. The new boss has fairly slow-moving attacks that affect a wide area but can easily be dodged. Players will want to keep an eye out for circles that show up around the battlefield, indicating where these attacks will land. Once a big attack lands, it’ll take the Hydro Tulpa a little bit before his next attack is ready. This is the perfect chance for a strong DPS burst phase. Since the boss is vulnerable for the entire fight, however, players can attack whenever they feel comfortable. A strong shield focus party may even be able to burst down the boss without worrying about mechanics. Overall, players will want to:
- Spear Attack: Avoid large spear attacks dealing massive damage
- Hammer Attack: Watch out for the faster hammer attack
- Summon Droplet: Manage Water Droplets to prevent the Hydro Tulpa from gaining a buff
- Dive: Keep track of the bosses quick dives which function like a teleport
- Hydro Immunity: The Hydro Tulpa is Immune to Hydro Damage
- DPS Phase: Deal damage after larger abilities
Strong Team Choices Versus The New Boss
One quick note is that Genshin Impact 4.2’s Hydro Tulpa is completely immune to Hydro attacks. This means that new Neuvillette players may have to bench their shiny new character. Instead, a Dendro character like Nahida, or Electro character, like Fischl, make this fight far easier. With their elemental application, both characters can quickly clear the droplets and deal massive damage to the boss. A strong Pyro main DPS is best for sustain damage, though any non-Hydro main DPS works as well.
