Georgia Woman Enrages Black Community with Her Insane Cake Recipe: ‘This Should Be Considered as Bodily Harm’

What a time to be alive

Chefs and bakers love to innovate and invent new recipes, but it appears for many Black people all over the internet, one woman from Georgia took things a little too far with her lemon pound cake. That’s because she combined it with a rather bizarre ingredient: chicken, or more specifically, buffalo wings as the icing on lemon pound cake. Her video has since gone wildly viral, with tons of people shaking their heads in unison.

Jewels Treats & More from Douglasville, Georgia, is the bakery in question, and earlier in July, she unveiled one of her weirdest creations, shown in the video above. In the clip, the Georgia woman was preparing her signature Lemon Pepper Pound Cake, but halfway around the video, she laid some buffalo chicken wings on top of the cake, leading to so many questions.

The video has since gone on to earn tens of millions of views all across several social media platforms, though the commenters mostly ranged from skeptical to outright disapproving. “I looked away and came back there was chicken on the [expletive] cake,” exclaims one TikTok user, with another echoing their surprise at the odd pairing, saying, “after you cut me a slice…don’t make this no more.”

Some have assumed that this kind of recipe with cake and chicken is an Atlanta thing, further accusing the bakeshop of unconventional taste. One X account even joked about banning Atlanta, “This is my official petition to ban Atlanta from the United States.” While the bakery is located in Douglasville, which is quite far from Atlanta, the owner, Tina Arnold grew up in Atlanta, hence the idea to combine the cake and the wings.

People online are torn on the cake

As expected, a lot of people were curious about the taste, and some even traveled far to get a slice, only to be disappointed since it appears the specific pepper wing pound cake is only available on two days of the week. In any case, even some members of the Black community were appalled at the Black-owned bakery.

“We’re never beating the allegations smh,” comments an Instagram user, while another even went as far as to be ashamed, writing, “When I say ashamed to be black sometimes, this exactly what I mean,” referring to the pepper wing cake. Others brought up how the combination is unhealthy, suggesting that “This should be considered as bodily harm” and “Diabetes and dialysis has entered the chat lol,” after seeing the cake.

Still, some defended the cake, arguing that at the end of the day, most people’s stomachs will have the same combination of food anyway after a full course meal, with comments such as “Ppl act like they never ate wings and wanted something sweet after, she jus put it together.” In any case, it appears the Lemon Pepper Pound Cake is here to stay, especially if there’s an audience for it.
