Gwent for Android is now available to pre-register on the Google Play Store ahead of its March release date.
Gwent: The Witcher Card Game has become an enormous success. It first began as a minigame inside The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, but after fans took such a shine to it, it became its own game. Almost four years on from its release as a standalone game, Gwent will release on Android on the 24th of March.
Originally launching on PC and consoles in 2016, the game has gained popularity across YouTube, Twitch, and eSports. After the game’s popularity on PC and console, it released on iOS in October 2019 to roaring success. So successful, in fact, that CD Projekt Red ended its console support in favor of PC and mobile. The iOS version reimagined the controls for a touch screen while maintaining all the features of the PC version, and the Android will be the same.
When playing Gwent on Android, cross-play will be enabled so that you will be playing against PC and iOS players. This also means that your progress will be saved across platforms if you link the same GOG account. Pre-registering for the game on Android will also grant players a unique Imperial Golem avatar.
Also, in March, the Gwent World Masters is taking place in Warsaw. On the 14th and 15th of March, eight of the best Gwent players in the world will compete to become the first-ever Gwent world champion. The player roster was announced today, with four winners from the challenger events, and the four highest point earners entering.
Although Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales recently released on the Nintendo Switch, there are no plans for Gwent to release on the Nintendo Switch.
