Game of Thrones season 8 has been a mixed bag. I loved the first two episodes and then felt it fell off a bit. The battle of Winterfell felt anticlimactic and, as everyone knows, way too dark. Other people are the opposite, I’ve heard plenty of people who have said they hated the first two episodes and loved the rest. That said, the overall consensus has been that season 8 is rushed and somewhat of a dissapointment. It’s been the most divisive season of the entire Game of Thrones run.

The reduced episode count hasn’t helped as the show’s had a limited time to reach its conclusion. Much like season 10 of The X Files, the shorter episode count didn’t help, especially when it had to shoehorn in the mythology episodes. Had it been 6 weeks of monster of the week episodes that may have been better, but, like Game of Thrones, having just 6 episodes to move things forward just didn’t feel enough. I’d still like to point out that The X Files has been and always will be, my favorite show ever, but enough of that for now.

Regardless of what people think of the last ever season of Game of Thrones, the show has been doing good numbers and has built up plenty of goodwill over the years so that people are excited for the finale. HBO knows this and also doesn’t want to give too much away, so it comes as no surprise they have only released two promo pictures for the final episode, and here they are:

Just two photos and they don’t give much away at all. Hopefully Game of Thrones will deliver a finale that both we as fans and the show itself deserve. After all these years, it would be such a shame if it goes out with a whimper. Here’s hoping for some surprises, smiles, and tears as we say goodbye to such a much-loved show. The question is who will rule over the seven kingdoms and what will be left of them? I cast my vote for Tormund and his majestic beard.

What do you think of the final season of Game of Thrones and how do you think it’ll end? Let us know in the comments below!
