Helldivers 2 has given its players something more than the power to spread freedom. It also added a new Premium Warbond in which to spend your Medals. This Premium Warbond contains an intriguing new device, the Localization Confusion. It sounds like a translation error for a foreign movie, but it’s actually an in-game item that makes the game a lot easier. Here’s how to unlock the Helldivers 2 Localization Confusion item and also how to use it.
What Is Localization Confusion? Explained
Localization Confusion is merely a Booster in Helldivers 2. Boosters, for those who are new to managed democracy, are more or less passive abilities in Helldivers 2.
You can only pick one of them per mission, however, and you can’t have duplicates with your squadmates. They also only have one effect, and you will need to unlock most of them through the Warbonds (battle pass) or the Orbital Destroyer upgrades.
Localization Confusion, for that matter, has the following passive effect:
- Increases the time between enemy encounters.
You’ll basically encounter fewer enemies in-game if you have this equipped.
How to Unlock (and Use) Localization Confusion
Localization Confusion is sadly only available in the Cutting Edge Premium Warbond. This is Helldivers 2‘s newest premium battle pass and you can only unlock this battle pass by spending 1,000 Super Credits (SC).
To earn Super Credits, you must buy them with Medals from the Warbonds (both regular and premium) or purchase them with real money. You can technically earn Super Credits in-game through exploration, but those can be rare and few.
Once you have the Super Credits and have unlocked the Cutting Edge Warbond, you can then proceed to unlock Localization Confusion on the Premium Warbond’s first page. It costs 18 Medals to unlock Localization Confusion.
Warnings on Using Localization Confusion
Localization Confusion can no doubt make the game a lot easier. You get to fight fewer enemies this way, and it can help a lot in Automaton territories, where they’re constantly chasing your squad.

5 Best Weapons in Helldivers 2However, making the game that way might not be preferable for all mission types or situations. Some players might prefer to fight as many enemies as they can, not just in the name of liberty but also because of the objectives and Personal Orders.
Two situations come to mind on the undesirable usage of Localization Confusion:
- When your squad is on an Eradicate mission (15-minute stationary defense missions), you are required to kill a number of enemies. Using Localization Confusion might prolong the mission.
- When pursuing Personal Order objectives. Some of these require killing specific enemies and fewer enemies caused by Localization Confusion will delay the task.
Some squadmates might even democratically kick you out for using Localization Confusion in those aforementioned situations, so keep it in mind.
