In the opening area of Horizon Forbidden West, players will come across the game’s first Relic Ruin called The Daunt. It is located south of Chainscrape and not far from The Daunt’s Vista Point, which is east of Redhew Quarry. There is also a Campfire nearby the area which players can fast travel to. The side quest that is Relic Ruin: The Daunt will have players find a terminal passcode, a Key Module, and complete a puzzle to obtain the quest’s Ornament in Horizon Forbidden West. Find out all the details in this guide.
Completing Relic Ruin: The Daunt will give players 5,000 XP and +2 Skill Points.
How to Complete Relic Ruin: The Daunt in Horizon Forbidden West
The quest begins at the Northern end of the ruins, where a crate can be found. Move the crate to the point next to the yellow handhold, located on the upper floor. Jump on the crate and use the handhold to get onto the platform in front of the double doors. Go out onto the balcony and turn left, then jump onto the parallel balcony.
The balcony will lead into a big room where a purple data point can be seen on a bench. Dropdown into the room and scan the data point with Aloy’s focus. This will provide the passcode needed to get into the double doors in the previous room; the passcode will now be in Aloy’s notebook.
Opposite the data point, on a ledge up high, is another crate. Use the Pullcaster to pull the crate down and move it closer to the entrance of the next room. High above that entrance is a blue vent and a beam that can be pulled down; players should do this. There will be a collectible chest across the beam that will give players various items. Next, Aloy needs to walk through the vent and drop down into the next room. Then, the Pullcaster can be used to destroy the wall that is below the vent.

Next, players need to walk back through to the previous room and push the crate to the cracked stone floor (next to where the wall used to be). In the room with the destroyed floor, Aloy can drop down into the basement. Following the basement, all the way around will lead to a blue Pullcaster hook on the ceiling (this is the cracked stone floor). Pulling this hook will cause the crate to fall into the basement.
Players should then push the crate to the front of the basement, where a yellow ledge is located. Aloy can jump on the crate to reach the ledge and climb into the room. From there, dropping down to the balcony will lead to a hotel room key. It is marked in blue.
Then, players can go back to the very first crate in the quest and climb up the platform again. The console to the left of the doors can be accessed by pressing the triangle button, and Aloy can now enter the code 1705. This code can also be found in the character’s notebook.
The double doors are now unlocked, and players can collect their prizes: An Ancient Supply Safe and the Ornament.
Horizon Forbidden West is filled with puzzle side-quests such as Relic Ruin: The Daunt. They can be challenging but rewarding. Play the newly released title on PS4 and PS5.
