Want to know how do Mutators work in Remnant 2? Despite the dark and exciting storyline of Remnant 2, having a good weapon is an integral part of your survival. As you progress through the story, killing bosses and exploring caches, you can collect a good arsenal but don’t forget about upgrades. One option to upgrade your ranged weapons is Mods that give top effects to your firearms in exchange for Mods Power. But if you want to improve melee weapons or get permanent buffs, you should know about Mutators and how it works in Remnant 2.
Remnant 2: Mutators Explained
First, it is worth briefly mentioning the differences between Mutators and Mods. And the first thing you should remember is that you can equip Mutators on ranged and melee weapons. The exception is when a specific mutator and weapon are incompatible. Also, Mutators do not require energy.
Otherwise, Mutators are a basic mechanic in Remnant 2 that allows you to give your weapons special effects. But to make it easier for you, here are the basic information about these items that you should know:
- First, each weapon only has one slot for Mutators. In this case, the type of weapon does not matter.
- You can change Mutator for any other for free. This feature is similar to Mods, so you can create any builds and customize the gameplay to your preferences.
- If you got a Boss weapon, it probably won’t have a Mods slot. But on the other hand, you can put Mutators into this weapon, empowering an already powerful weapon with new abilities.
- By leveling up some Mutators, you will improve their effect. For example, if you have a 1.5% critical hit chance at level 1, you get a +30% buff at level 10. Also, if you level up to 10, you will get a second bonus perk.
- The effects of Mutators can vary greatly, from permanent buffs of your base stats (speed, health, crit chance) to various active skills.
How To Get Mutators in Remnants 2
Luckily, you have several ways to get Mutators in Remnant 2:
- You can buy them from Vendor Dwell in Ward 13.
- Also, you can receive these items from Bosses and Aberrations.
If you got the Mutator by defeating the boss, you can equip it. But if you want to buy it from Vendor Dwell, you’ll need to stock up on Scrap and Relic Dust. Luckily, Scrap won’t be a problem since you get this material during almost any in-game activity. On the other hand, to farm Relic Dust, you must explore secret locations and complete challenging missions.
By the way, when it comes to updating Mutators, you will need the same Scrap and Corrupted Lumenite. But if you’ve already defeated a couple of bosses or found some chests, you’ve probably already stocked up on this rare material.
