It won’t take long to learn that Baldur’s Gate 3 has several tough bosses, including Yurgir. But you don’t always need to jump into combat mode to deal with this massive Fiend. There is a way to beat Yurgir in BG3 without battling him directly, and it involves choosing the right dialogue choices while talking about Raphael and the contract. So, let’s see just how we can circumvent this powerful boss without bringing out our weapons. Be warned: some save scumming might be required.
The Easy Way To Beat Yurgir
This Fiend is a difficult one to fight. So, there is a way to beat Yurgir that causes the fewest risks to your team in BG3. To do this, you need to make Yurgir kill himself. As long as you prepare, it should be simple.
Choose the Right Character to Beat Yurgir
One of the best ways to beat Yurgir in BG3 is to choose the right character. High Insight and Charisma stats are ideal. That’s why a Bard character is excellent. Bards don’t even need the Insight check we’ll mention. Other classes require it. However, do not choose a Warlock. It is impossible to get Yurgir to kill himself with a Warlock. If your character can’t handle it, Gale is always a good choice.
Dialogue Choices and Skill Checks
With our character chosen, focus on dialogue and skill checks. In BG3, Yurgir is only there because of a contract, so to beat him without combat, talk about the contract and Raphael.
Initial Dialogue Options
When you first enter, he’ll have a weapon trained on you. He’ll sniff Raphael’s scent on you, and grow increasingly hostile. If you have Karlach in your party, he’ll have extra dialogue. Here are the options you want to choose to get him to sing:
- Wait – you know Raphael?
- I’ve had dealings with that Devil. Maybe we can help each other
- Alternatively, you can choose this option for the same effect: He wants you dead.
- Let’s share our experiences about Raphael. Perhaps we can help each other.
- Show me this contract. Perhaps there’s something you missed.
Important Skill Checks
Now that we have Yurgir singing about his contract in BG3, we can beat him soon. We have to pass an Insight check, though. This check will ensure you catch something in the lyrics of his song.
Once he’s done, choose this option:
- Your contract is a song?
He’ll speak a bit about the contract before saying that you need to die. Here is where you must get high Persuasion rolls to beat Yurgir in BG3 combat-free. Each dialogue option you must choose below requires a Persuasion roll with the pass being higher each time:
- The lyrics are a trick. You’ve always had an audience – your followers. Get rid of them.
- You’re not finished yet – the displacer can hear you, can’t she? Kill her.
- Exactly. Kill yourself, complete the contract, and you’ll be reborn in Avernus. Free.
- There’s an additional option if you’re a barbarian, but you’ll still have to meet a Persuasion roll.
Finishing the Quest
As long as you’ve met all the Persuasion rolls, you should beat Yurgir in BG3 by having him kill his minions and then stab himself. And from there, you’ve succeeded in defeating the Fiend without lifting a finger. No harm to yourself, your team, or wasting items to keep yourself healed in a tough battle.
