Are you looking to buy a house inย Starfield? Bethesda has promised over 1,000 planets in the vast universe ofย Starfield, and having a personal haven on a distant planet or within a city can offer solace and a sense of belonging. While you will spend hours inย your spaceshipย that will serve as your mobile base, you can buy a house in every major city inย Starfield. You will be able to rest, put away valuable items, and plan your next move out of the comfort of your space home. Here we’ll be breaking down how to buy a house in Starfield, including which cities you can actually settle in.

To acquire a house inย Starfield, it’s a straightforward process. The first major urban area you can settle in is New Atlantis. To purchase a home here, all you need to do is become a UC Citizen, which will include becoming a member of the Vanguard. The process isn’t too tricky, and we have a dedicated guide that explains the questline here. Once you’ve completed the questline, speak to the real estate agent at Aphelion Realty, who will offer you a Well Apartmentย for 30,000 credits.

Now, if you don’t want to settle in New Atlantis then fear not. The game offers a plethora of properties to choose from in the following major cities:

  • New Atlantis
  • Akila City
  • Neon
  • Cydonia

Additionally, houses can be obtained as a reward for accomplishing specific quests. This will naturally open up the possibility to discover even more homes as players explore more planets.

How Much Houses Cost

In Starfield, housing costs vary significantly, spanning from 6,500 credits to a substantial 235,000 credits. On the more economical side, 6,500 credits will secure you a modest space known as the Sleepcrate in Neon, essentially resembling a compact crate that can barely accommodate more than a bed. In contrast, if you’re willing to invest 235,000 credits, you’ll have the privilege of claiming the grandest penthouse suite in Neon, situated atop the prestigious Astral Lounge. Other available housing choices include the upscale Core Manor, priced at 78,000 credits, and The Stretch Apartment, available for 45,000 credits, both conveniently located in Akila City.

Starfield Dream Home Trait Explained

Another way to own a house inย Starfieldย is through the Dream Home trait. When making a character, you are going to chooseย multiple traitsย that create your backstory and offer some boosts. However, these come with both pros and cons. If you select the Dream Home trait, you will automatically become an owner of a luxurious villa located on the peaceful Nesoi planet in the Olympus System.

However, the con is that you start the game with a debt of 125,000 Credits that requires weekly payments of 500 Credits. Luckily, there is a way toย earn Credits quickly inย Starfield. If you think this is costly, there is a similar property in Neon for which you need to cough up 235,000 Credits. The prices of houses inย Starfieldย range from a meager 6,500 Credits to 200,000+ Credits.

Mercury Tower Penthouse

If you find that the New Atlantis Well Apartment doesn’t quite meet your expectations and you’re not thrilled with the alternatives, there’s a luxurious opportunity waiting for you: the Mercury Tower Penthouse. However, obtaining this opulent residence requires some effort on your part, as it’s a prestigious reward for successfully completing the demanding United Colonies questline, which can be time-consuming.

Can You Own Multiple Houses?

If you aren’t familiar with previous Bethesda titles such asย Skyrim, the freedom to own multiple homes is a staple feature. As long as you have enough credits,ย Starfieldย offers the same, taking into consideration that Bethesda’s latest RPG title improves upon every gameplay aspect.ย

How To Customize a Home in Starfield

Once you buy a house you will be able to explore and customize every bit of its interior. This aligns with Bethesda’s commitment to improving player’s freedom and expression.

You can choose two ways to enter the customization option:

  • There is a Decorate button on the wall.
  • Open your scanning tool and press R on PC or X on a gamepad.

This is all you need to know if you want to buy a house in Starfield.
