In Palworld‘s early access days, one of the most infamous glitches let players catch overpowered Tower Bosses like Zoe and Grizzbolt with a well-timed Pal Sphere throw. Well, that glitch has long since been patched out of the game. But don’t worry, for those wanting to travel with the fan-favorite duo, Pocketpair has since added an official way to recruit them. Here’s how to add Tower Bosses to your party roster in Palworld 1.0.

Can You Still Catch Tower Bosses in Palworld 1.0?

No, as mentioned above, Zoe and other Tower Bosses can no longer be captured with Pal Spheres in Palworld 1.0. In fact, the glitch has been patched out long before that — since the February 27, 2024, Version 0.1.5.0 update. Catching other human NPCs, though, still works fine to this day.
While that’s no doubt disappointing for anyone hoping to get tough Pals early, Pocketpair has introduced a proper way to recruit Zoe & Grizzbolt. Better yet, there’s also a trick that lets you catch Zoes — multiple of her, if you want.
How to Recruit (and Catch) Zoe & Grizzbolt in Palworld 1.0

First, head to the Rayne Syndicate Tower and defeat Zoe and Grizzbolt as usual. After the battle, Zoe will be waiting outside the tower entrance. Don’t waste your Pal Spheres just yet — talk to her and initiate the ‘Zoe Rayne’ Mission. Afterward, go to the Desolate Church at 65, -412 coordinates, west of the Tower.
Inside the church ruins, you will find Zoe just chilling near a Medal Merchant. Now, this is the point where you whip out a Sphere and catch her as many times as you want. Just weaken her a bit, then throw one or a couple of Pal Spheres to get her. Once she’s caught — or if you accidentally killed her — just wait for around 20 seconds, or go away for a bit. Zoe will respawn again as if nothing happened.
Keep in mind that Zoe can only be captured while she’s at the Desolate Church. Once you finish her questline, she’ll permanently leave and can only be encountered during the Tower Boss fight.
Recruiting Zoe & Grizzbolt Questline

Talk to Zoe in Desolate Church, and you will trigger the ‘Don’t Get Cocky’ Sub Mission. She’ll act all standoffish at first, asking you to show her a Grizzbolt to prove your strength. Fine. Head to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1 (55, -697) and catch a Grizzbolt. You can actually see the island’s barrier just north of the church.
It’s going to be a long trek there; we suggest you get a Flying Pal like Nitewing and its harness first to get there quickly. If you’ve already caught a Grizzbolt, though, simply summon it in front of Zoe to complete the objective instantly.

After that’s done, the next ‘I Still Don’t Trust You’ Sub Mission tasks you to defeat five Free Pal Alliance members. These enemies should patrol north of the Desolate Church across the Bridge of the Twin Knights. But as we find out, their patrol routes can be pretty inconsistent.
Instead, head to 12, -304 coordinates, where you’ll find a small Free Pal Alliance camp. There should be five or more enemies. Catch or defeat them all — or, in our case, let the wildlife take care of them — to complete the objective.
The final Sub Mission to recruit her, ‘Warm Memories,’ has Zoe open up about her past and ask you to retrieve a keepsake from her rebellious days. The Tattered Memento — an old, dirty blanket she still treasures — can be found at Fort Ruins (186, -381).

Return it to Zoe, and she’ll finally ask to accompany you on adventures ‘beyond the seas.’ With this, Zoe & Grizzbolt will be instantly added to your party or sent to the Palbox. Don’t hesitate to finish ‘Warm Memories,’ however, as there’s still one additional Sub Mission that adds a bonus costume to Zoe: ‘Happy Halloween!’ As long as you don’t clear this quest, she can always be found at Desolate Ruins.
In terms of base management, the human Zoe is rather useless compared to the Zoe & Grizzbolt duo, unsurprisingly. The former has only Handiwork Level 3, while the latter has Lumbering Level 3, Handiwork Level 4, Transporting Level 5, and Generating Electricity Level 5.
For now, Zoe & Grizzbolt are the only Tower Bosses that can officially join your team in Palworld 1.0. Pocketpair added them as a reward for winning the Global Pal Popularity Poll, where she claimed the top spot by a landslide. Nevertheless, Saya from Sakurajima and Lily of the Free Pal Alliance finished second and third, respectively. Big chance they will be added as recruitable companions too in future updates.
The Old Tower Boss Catching Glitch Method

In case you’re playing the old, pre-February 2024 Version 0.1.5.0 update of Palworld, here’s how to perform the glitch:
- Get a Wanted level and be chased by PIDF Guards.
- The easiest place to test this is by attacking a villager in the Small Settlements (75, -479) at Windswept Hills.
- Head to the nearest Tower Boss quickly. We recommend riding Flying Pals like Nitewing or Elphidran.
- Start the Tower Boss fight. The PIDF Guards chasing you will also spawn in the arena.
- Make sure the PIDF Guards attack the Tower Boss.
- The boss will walk to the edge of the arena and stare at the void.
- At this point, all you have to do is throw a Pal Sphere at them.
- The Tower Boss and their Pal will be added to your Palbox.
Catching them won’t count as completing the Tower battle, however, so you’ll be stuck inside. Simply select the Respawn option from the menu to get out. Remember that playing at Version 0.1.5.0 or higher will invalidate this exploit.
