If you want to once again dive into the delightful zombie world of Dead Island 2, you can tackle their second DLC, lovingly titled SoLA. There’s only one side quest in the entire DLC, but it’s worth it, considering you’ll endure quite the battle at the end. Navigating the side quest is straightforward enough, but there’s a certain point where things can get a bit confusing. So, my guide should help navigate you through Flesh Memories in Dead Island 2: SoLA, but you’ll need the skills to complete it.

Before you can start Flesh Memories, you’ll need to follow the main storyline of Dead Island 2: SoLA. You’ll unlock the side quest once you reach the point where you must destroy the mood speaker at the Squirm stage. As you’re battling zombies there, a Clotter will drop the Third Eye Yurt Key. Collecting it will start Flesh Memories.

Since you can only access the SoLA DLC after finishing the main game, your character should be at a reliably strong level. Even so, make sure you’re equipped with powerful weapons, healing items, etc. The end of Flesh Memories will be an uphill fight.

Dead Island 2 Flesh Memories will direct you to head to Eco Village. Search around the southwest corner of the SoLA DLC to find the area. Find the Yurt and interact with the door to head inside. You’ll see the floor is electrified. And this is where some players find themselves stuck. You cannot collect anything inside without first turning off the power.

Run off to your left until you can jump off the platform and follow the cords to the generator. Power it off and return to the Yurt to loot the Vintage Camera sitting on the cabinet. From here, you can tackle the rest of the Yurts needed to complete Flesh Memories in Dead Island 2. Thankfully, all of this is straightforward. Just follow the markings on your map to lead you to each Yurt in the area. Your job is to discover “cherished memories.” In short, it’s time to loot.

Of course, there are zombies around, so be prepared to kill them off so you can have an easier time looting. You can head to the buildings counterclockwise from the initial Yurt and find these items:

  • Yurt #1: Fancy Handbag (on the bed)
  • Yurt #2: Goopy Body (dead body on the bed)
    • Extra loot: I’m On My Way (journal on the nearby nightstand)
  • Yurt #3: Expensive Shoes (on the bed)
  • Yurt #4: Influencer’s Whiteboard (near the end of the bed)
  • Yurt #5: Goopy DJ Deck (on top of the cabinet)
    • Extra loot: Exposure Bucks (on the crate with a lamp on it)

With the cherished items collected, it’s now time to head to the Fusion Point shopping area and go toward the Farm Flesh building. Use the stairs on the left to go to the first floor, following the marker as it leads you to the Lost Heart.

Now, you’re directed to the main stage as we must find the source of the voices. The section is fenced off, so use the makeshift steps on the right to jump over it. Once you’re down, Flesh Memories will give you one of the toughest battles in Dead Island 2: SoLA.

You must interact with the disgusting pile of bodies to kick off the fight. Several Clotters will appear, Dead Island 2’s new Apex zombie variants. These Clotters are no joke. They’re immune to bleed damage and take little leg damage. As there are several, they can overwhelm you before you know it. It pays off not just to have powerful weapons, but to have the right Skill Cards equipped to help keep you in Fury longer, cause some elemental damage, etc.

All it takes to finish Flesh Memories is to destroy every Clotter that comes at you. Easier said than done, of course, but you’ll feel unstoppable once you do.

Dead Island 2 is available for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
