In Starfield, you’ll get plenty of interesting missions to diversify your playthrough. The Overdesigned quest is a great example of this, where you won’t find enemies or battles waiting for you, but you’ll need to be creative and imaginative. In this guide, you will learn how to complete Overdesigned in Starfield. Your goal will be to help the design team make a universal starship, which is not easy. Below, you will find all the necessary instructions to complete the quest.

To get access to this quest, first, you’ll need to complete the High Price to Pay mission. After completing the mission, you’ll be able to talk to Walter Stroud, who will tell you about his company and the problem the design team is having with creating a new starship. He will assign you the task of helping them, which will start the Overdesigned quest.

When you’re ready, head to the Narion Star System. Here, in orbit of the planet Dalvik, you will get to the Stroud-Eklund Staryard, where the design team led by Jules is located. Enter the station to interact with them and help solve the problem.

Deal With the Budget Issue

First, you’ll need to talk to the team leader, Jules. Her main concern is the project budget because most of the team offers additional ideas and changes that affect the final result. You need to help her by telling her that a small budget will be enough or convince her to increase the contribution of money to free up more ideas. If you decide to do the second option, you will have to persuade her by filling in the 6 points. This may be difficult if you haven’t upgraded your Persuasion skill, so you may want to use Hippolyta pills if you have them.

Once you’ve figured out your budget, Jules will ask you to research the market. To accomplish this, you will need to complete the tasks on the mission board. Fortunately, this is not difficult, and completing one mission will be enough. You will need to go to the mission board, select any mission of your choice, and complete it. To speed up the process, we recommend choosing a passenger transportation task, as it will take the least amount of time. If you want to earn additional credits, you can complete other tasks, but unfortunately, this will not affect the main mission.

Talk to the Rest of the Team

When you are done with the main mission objectives, you can move on to the optional ones to improve the future ship. Thus, you will need to talk to each member of the council about their ideas for the design of the starship. In total, you will have 5 dialogues with the following characters:

  • Jules
  • Frank Yilmaz
  • Nev Papadopoulos
  • Ella Chaudhry
  • Mike Ababio

All of them will offer ideas about the appearance and filling of the ship, and after listening to them, you will need to provide feedback and the outcome of the project will depend on it. In addition, you will also have to conduct an exercise with the team, namely:

  • Compromise with each other.
  • Lead a team-building exercise.

In general, depending on your choice, you will be able to submit 2 project results, namely:

  • Kepler S: a B-class ship with fast engines and a powerful grav drive. It is ideal for your research and fast space travel. This option will be available if you choose a small budget and compromise with the team.
  • Kepler R: Class C ship, no worse than the previous one, and maybe even better. The main advantages are powerful weapons and large cargo capacity. This option will be available if you have chosen a large budget and conducted a team-building exercise.

Thus, having completed all these tasks, you will form a final decision and approve the ship to be built. The last thing you have to do is to talk to Walter Stroud, who is located in the Lodge. After informing him that you have completed the task, he will thank you and give you credits as a reward, as well as the keys to the ship you helped create.
