Honkai Star Rail is a free-to-play gacha game from HoYoverse, a turn-based RPG with a large cast of characters. With numerous endgame modes and boss battles, creating the perfect team will help you go all the way. But what are the best ways to craft the strongest team comps in Honkai Star Rail? Here’s how to create the best team possible in this popular creation from HoYoverse.

How To Make the Best Team in Honkai Star Rail

Typically, there’s one template you can follow when crafting team comps in Honkai Star Rail. Most of the time, you should use one main DPS unit as a hypercarry, followed by two supports or sub-DPS characters to buff them. Finally, you’ll also want to include one sustain unit. These include Preservation units that typically shield, or Abundance units that heal. This isn’t true for all teams or all forms of content, but that’s the basic formula.

An example starter team, for instance, could include Dan Heng, Asta, Pela, and Natasha. Asta is a Harmony unit that buffs the Attack and Speed of your entire team, while Pela is a debuffer who lowers enemy Defense. Natasha is the healer of this team, while Dan Heng will deal all the damage. This is a basic free-to-play team, but it might not hold up in harder content.

As you obtain more units by pulling on the gacha, you’ll notice you can create different teams. For example, you might forgo a buffer or debuffer for a sub-DPS unit. The team comp Jingliu, Blade, Bronya, and Fu Xuan is an example of a premium team that doesn’t follow the typical building blocks of team building but remains one of the stronger team comps in the game. For those who try to clear endgame content as quickly as possible, you might drop a sustain unit for three buffers instead. (Seele, Bronya, Sparkle, and Tingyun could be an example of one of these teams.)
