In Baldur’s Gate 3, sometimes even the most standard things are imbued with magic. You can find many of these things in the Arcane Tower. And next, you will learn how to find and use the Chest of the Mundane in Baldur’s Gate 3. When you find this chest, it will become an essential item for your travels because its properties are unique and very useful. Follow the instructions below to find out where to look for it and what it’s for.
BG3: How To Find the Chest of the Mundane
To find the Chest of the Mundane in Baldur’s Gate 3, you will need to visit Underdark. So, if you haven’t been there yet, or just got there, we recommend that you prepare well and reach at least level 4. So when you are ready, your next destination will be Arcane Tower, which is located at the following coordinates: X:0, Y:-300. Head to the southwestern part of Underdark until you reach it.
As you get closer to the tower, you’ll see that it’s not that easy because it’s protected by magic turrets that deal decent damage. To get around them, we recommend using the Pass Without Trace or Invisibility potion. If you don’t have either of them, then switch to step-by-step mode and move your characters past the turrets one by one to the entrance of Arcane Tower.
When you are in front of the entrance, use the open window to get inside. Now make your way to the balcony, which is on the right side of the building, and that’s where you’ll find the Chest of the Mundane in Baldur’s Gate 3. Before you can open the chest, you’ll need to pass an Arcane check, and then you’ll be able to interact with it.
How To Use the Chest of the Mundane
When you open the Chest of the Mundane in Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll see standard items that are not valuable at all, such as a spoon or a goblet. But all the magic begins as soon as you place them in your inventory. When you do, you’ll discover that ordinary spoons, mugs, goblets, and plates are disguised as precious items:
- Gold Ingot
- Hearthlight Bomb
- Mystra’s Grace boots
- Scroll of Mage Armour
- Scroll of Protection from Evil and Good
It’s really awesome because you can now grab a chest to carry around with you. And the whole point is not that it turns your stuff into dishes while it’s inside, but that it reduces the weight of all items to a minimal amount. This way, you can take many more things with you without worrying about overloading your character. All objects will acquire a minimum weight, even if it is another item’s chest.
