This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

The Lower Deeps is the second area in the game that you can access through Western Halls. If you have already passed through the Elven Quarter and got to the Western Halls, then everything becomes much easier because this way you will unlock new equipment, namely the Steel Pickaxe.

Once you get to the Western Halls, the game will give you a few reference points to get to the Lower Deeps, but they are all vague. So when you’re at this location, head down and jump as far as possible. Continue exploring the area until you reach Western Mines. From here, go south and look for a path that you can break with a pickaxe to move on. At the crossroads, go to the right and continue on until you reach Crystal Depths. In this stunning location, you can find a platform that serves as an elevator, and it will lead you to The Lower Deeps in Return to Moria.

Don’t celebrate too early, because it’s not that simple. As it turns out, the elevator is broken, so you will need to repair it by bringing certain resources, namely:

  • Elven Wood
  • Natural Fiber
  • Black Diamond

If the first two materials are not so difficult to get, then to find Black Diamond you need to try harder. The fact is that this resource is a loot from the Orc boss. You can find this enemy in Orc Town if you go back. After defeating him, among other rewards, you will also get the desired Black Diamond and be able to return to the elevator. Once you have all the resources, you can repair the elevator and finally go down to The Lower Deeps in Return to Moria.
