To become an invincible hero, you will need to think about good equipment and the game gives you many options to choose from. Many players don’t even know that in Act 3, they can find some of the best items in the game by visiting Wyrm’s Rock Fortress. Now you will learn how to get the Helm of Balduran and Balduran’s Giantslayer in Baldur’s Gate 3. You will have to go through a difficult path full of puzzles and even defeat a boss to get them. Don’t worry, we’ll show you how to get around the obstacles and get these incredible items.
Helm of Balduran and Balduran’s Giantslayer’s Location in Baldur’s Gate 3
Both items we’re going to talk about are guarded by the mighty dragon Ansur. You are unlikely to learn about the existence of this dragon on your own, and the only clue that can lead you there is Duke Ravengard if you rescue him from the Iron Throne. Talking to him in the camp will tell you about the dragon, and then you can get a quest to go searching for it. Receiving the quest is not a prerequisite, but only a clue that will lead you to the correct location.
To get to the right place, you will need to visit Wyrm’s Rock Fortress, namely the local prison. When you arrive there, pay attention to the map of the area and take the first left. If you do it right, you will reach a dead end, but it is not. Look for the torches with the dragon’s head on the wall. Extinguish them, and then interact with any lightning spell to make them light up with blue fire, so you will notice that a secret passage has opened.
Enter the passage, and move on until you come across the Iron Gate, which is where you need to enter. If you do everything right, you will enter the Wyrmway and there will be 4 rooms with trials around you that need to be passed to open the main passage leading to the dragon. Here are the challenges you will face:
- Chamber of Justice
- Chamber of Strategy
- Chamber of Courage
- Chamber of Insight
Below, we’ll tell you how to complete each of them.
How to Pass the Chamber of Strategy
In this room, you will face a simple chess puzzle. You will notice that the chessboard has pieces in a certain order (players may have different arrangements), and all you have to do is interact with them to win the game. In most cases, you will only need to make two moves for white to checkmate the enemy king, and then the puzzle will be completed.
How to Pass the Chamber of Justice
The next puzzle is not difficult either. When you follow the path and enter the required room, you will notice a giant statue of Balduran and a round white symbol on the floor covered with Purple Haze. Here’s what you need to do:
- Interact with the statue of Balduran to start a conversation with him.
- After you finish talking with him, go to the Shrouded Paintings and use Remove Curse on them.
- After doing so, you will notice their names, namely: The Cell, The Hanging, and Freedom.
- Take The Cell and place it on the empty pedestal.
If you do this correctly, the statue of Balduran will light up, indicating that the puzzle is complete.
How to Pass the Chamber of Courage
In this ward, you won’t need to solve puzzles because here you will be tested for your courage. Once inside, interact with the statue of Balduran to talk to him. When the conversation is over, you will need to confront the enemies who will relentlessly attack you. We recommend that you prepare yourself well, or save the game, before starting the battle. When you defeat all the enemies, you will be able to move on.
How to Pass the Chamber of Insight
Once in this chamber, you will have to talk to the statue of Balduran again. You will learn that here you will need to find the impostor among the characters that are highlighted in red. There are clues and scrolls in the room that you can read to draw a conclusion. As a result, you will know that the impostor is the character on the left. Use a ranged attack to kill him, after which the puzzle will be completed.
How to Get the Helm of Balduran and Balduran’s Giantslayer
After completing all the puzzles, the door to the main chamber will open and you can move on. You will find yourself in Dragon’s Sanctum where you will have a long conversation with the statue of Balduran, after which you will finally be able to confront the boss. At first, you will notice its remains, but it’s a trap and the fight will soon begin.
Position your team properly to be able to face the boss. Also, keep in mind that the dragon is immune to Poison and Lightning damage and is also resistant to Necrotic attacks. Despite this, if you do everything right, the fight will not last long.
And finally, the long-awaited rewards:
- Balduran’s Giantslayer – loot the dragon corpse to take it.
- Helm of Balduran – placed on the altar behind.
Thus, you have received not only great equipment, such as the Helm of Balduran and Balduran’s Giantslayer in Baldur’s Gate 3 but also unforgettable memories of completing puzzles and fighting the dragon.
