As you explore the Grasslands, you can come across various Fiend Intels. This combat challenge requires you to perform specific actions as you attempt to kill dangerous monsters within a time limit. The sixth Fiend Intel in the Grassland is the Voltaic Canine mission, where you must defeat several Thunderclaw beasts. Unlike regular monsters with easy elemental weaknesses, you cannot pressure Thunderclaw with simple magic and must utilize status effects in FF7 Rebirth.

The Voltaic Canine Fiend Intel requires you to beat two Thunderclaw beasts while completing three challenges. Here are the details:

  • Pressure a Thunderclaw in FF7 Rebirth.
  • Stagger at least one monster.
  • Defeat all enemies within the time limit.

If you use Assess on a Thunderclaw, you will discover that you must use Detrimental Status Effects to pressure this monster. There are numerous status ailments that you can use, but the easiest one to get is Poison since Red XIII has this Materia automatically equipped.

Another viable status effect is Morph since you can buy it from Chadley at Bill’s Ranch. One Morph Materia costs 20 Grasslands Data Points, but I must warn you that this status ailment only works when the monster has low HP.

During my FF7 Rebirth playthrough, I borrowed the Poison Materia from Red XIII to pressure the two Thunderclaw beasts. It has been upgraded to two stars so I could cast Biora, which inflicts Poison on all enemies.

My first attempt to Poison the monsters failed, but I quickly gathered another ATB Gauge to cast a second Biora. This time, I managed to pressure and stagger the two Thunderclaw beasts in FF7 Rebirth, and I utilized Cloud’s physical skills to kill them. Since I was at a higher level than the enemies, I still had one minute left when the battle ended.
