Baldur’s Gate 3 has plenty of cutscenes and dialogue, many of which are vital to understanding the story. Nevertheless, the cutscenes and conversations in the game can be overbearing and a little tedious to get through, especially if it isn’t your first playthrough. Knowing how to skip cutscenes and dialogue in Baldur’s Gate 3 can save you a lot of time in the long run.
How Do You Skip Cutscenes & Dialogue in Baldur’s Gate 3?
[Updated on September 26, 2024 – Updated links and information]
You skip through dialogue in Baldur’s Gate 3 by pressing the Space Bar or the button indicated on your preferred console. When a character is speaking, you can skip dialogue sections one at a time by pressing Space. Keep tapping Space to pass through every dialogue section. However, pressing Space will also skip through selected dialogue options too. If you press Space during a dialogue option, the top answer will be chosen automatically, so be careful.
Skipping cutscenes in Baldur’s Gate 3 is even simpler than skipping dialogue. You only need to press the Escape key (Esc) or the pause button on your controller to skip over the entire cutscene. You don’t need to press the button continuously, like the Space bar for dialogue. Simply pressing Esc once will skip the whole cinematic.
While the dialogue and cinematics are engrossing and well-constructed, they can be a hindrance if you only have a limited time to play the game. Even though we don’t recommend players skip through the story bits or cutscenes of Baldur’s Gate 3, if it isn’t your first playthrough, the Space and Esc keys will become very useful.
