Inย Dave the Diver, you can tranquilize sharks with the Hush Dart rather than kill them outright. Tranquilizing underwater creatures presents you with two options. First, it lets you capture them without harming them. Second, it can also give you a chance to escape if the fight is too intense and you don’t believe you’ll make it out alive. But the basic Hush Dart isn’t enough for larger creatures like sharks. We’ll show you what you need to do so you can finally put them to sleep.

As you explore the incredible and vast ocean with Dave, you will encounter numerous creatures. Depending on your gear, you can have the best time or worst time in the face-off with a shark. Killing it right away is not the only answer to an encounter though.

Capturing a living specimen can double your profit when it’s time to sell. So, if you want to make more money, take the time to tranquilize sharks inย Dave the Diver. Otherwise, putting a shark to sleep can help give you time to refill your ammo, get more oxygen, or escape the fight altogether if you’re about to die.

You will unlock the Hush Dart in an underwater chest along with the Small Net Gun. Once you unlock it, you can craft the equipment using the following materials:

  • x2 Red Starfish
  • x2 Orange Starfish
  • x3 Copper Ore
  • x50 Gold

In Dave the Diver, the Hush Dart at the first few levels is nowhere near strong enough to tranquilize a shark. So, you will want to play through the game and continue to upgrade the Hush Dart at Duff’s Weapon Shop. Once you play through the main missions to Chapter 2, you can make permanent upgrades to your weapons. However, it’s not until around Chapter 6 that you will unlock the materials for the highest Hush Dart upgrade. The highest upgrade is the only way you can put sharks to sleep.

When using a Hush Dart, the target is hit once you see three dots appear above its head. Soon, you will see the traditional “zzz” of sleep. Then you’ll know it’s time to swoop in. Remember to have a Salvage Drone on hand if you plan to tranquilize and capture sharks.

Tranquilizer Attachments in Dave The Diver

The fully upgraded Hush Dart is not the only weapon you can use to put sharks to sleep. Instead, you can tranquilize sharks inย Dave the Diver with tranquilizer attachments. You can upgrade your other weapons to add a tranquilizing aspect to them. This includes shotguns and your harpoon gun. It can increase the chance of tranquilizing fish at a faster rate.

Regardless of the method, make sure you’re not encumbered with weight when you want to tranquilize sharks. The heavier you are, the more difficult it is to dodge. Sharks don’t sleep right away, so you need some time to maneuver for the tranquilizer to kick in.
