The next Guardians of the Galaxy-related project by Marvel Studios is coming sooner than expected as I Am Groot will be hitting Disney Plus on August 10th, putting it one week away from She-Hulk‘s release on the streaming platform.
While right now, Groot is growing up in his teenage years, the show will take place when he was a baby, following his “glory days growing up, and getting into trouble among the stars.” The show will be a series of animated shorts as audiences follow the cute Guardian of the Galaxy.
Marvel Studios released the poster for I Am Groot. It shows the character having a nice, relaxing day by listening to some music while he lies down with a tasty red drink with a mini umbrella by his side.

Vin Diesel will reprise his role to voice the character. The series was announced during Disney’s Investor Day in 2020. Not much is known about what other characters will make an appearance or what ties to the MCU we will receive.
For a brief period, all things relating to the Guardians became turbulent. Due to old, untasteful jokes made by James Gunn on Twitter coming to light, a reactive firing took place. It landed him a job with DC to direct The Suicide Squad and the HBO series Peacemaker. Although Gunn still has more projects with DC, he was eventually rehired at Marvel. Now, the comic book-loving director gets to work with both companies.
Following this will be Thor Love and Thunder, where the Guardians will have a role to play in connecting Endgame and Thor’s next adventure. For something straight for the goofy galactic team, The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special that had been filmed at the same time as Vol. 3. The Holiday Special is aiming for a release this holiday season on Disney Plus, with Vol. 3 coming to theaters on May 5th, 2023.
