A Illinois man claims to have had “the most annoying ride I’ve ever had” with a female Uber driver taking him home. In his rant on r/uber, U-Were-A-Mistake explains that he was the driver’s first Uber passenger ever, and that during the 15+ minutes they were together, he did not have a good time. She seemed unsure what to do or where to go, forcing him to guide her closely to his house.
“I had to keep my GPS on the whole time and give her step-by-step instructions, and she still missed like 5 turns and added 10 minutes to the trip,” U-Were-A-Mistake recalled with frustration. That wasn’t all; the Uber driver wouldn’t stop talking, even though OP was wearing his headphones and clearly not in the mood to talk. “I’m not trying to be rude, but it’s not your business,” he wrote aggressively, to which hundreds of Redditors agreed.
The driver allegedly asked him what he was doing, where he was going, and what his plans were for the day, a nonstop one-sided dialogue that felt more like an interrogation to U-Were-A-Mistake. She sped through his neighborhood, causing him quite the discomfort whenever they hit a speed bump. The cherry on top was that after dropping OP off at his house, the Uber driver just sat in his driveway for 10 minutes, getting her bearings.
The Illinois Uber Passenger Gave the Driver One Star for Her Allegedly Poor Service, and Reddit Agreed
Even though she claimed it was her first time giving an Uber ride, U-Were-A-Mistake was more than dissatisfied with her service and gave her 1 star. Many Redditors chimed in on the post, sharing how they, too, would be incredibly frustrated by a driver like the one this Illinois passenger got.
“The not being able to follow GPS, delaying the trip, and racing over speed bumps makes it a fully justified one star,” expressed a commenter. “The newbies are used to having family and friends in cars so they dont know,” pointed out another.
“She needs a wake-up call,” remarks a third. “Seriously, parked in your driveway for 10 minutes after the ride. That’s totally unacceptable!”
In response to the 1-star rating, Redditor Negative-Soup3819, who claimed to be the female driver, made her own post on r/uber to seek support for her situation. Unfortunately for her, the moderators of r/uber deleted her post, and several Redditors, including U-Were-A-Mistake, accused the poster of being a troll trying to ragebait readers of the original rant.
“I hope it made you feel good to tell thousands of people how awful I apparently am,” she wrote in a comment, calling out U-Were-A-Mistake, to which he replied, “Fake story.”
