ICE raids have been a recurring event for a while now. Despite seeing a lot of the arrests made, you find yourself sometimes still not able to comprehend the violence shown by ICE. They have reached a level of brutality that one hasn’t seen for years. The worst part? They are getting away with everything they are doing. An example of their brutality was when some ICE agents in California decided to treat their victim like a punching bag. The violent arrest was filmed and shared widely, as people were left shocked at what they were seeing.
In the video, you see several ICE agents on top of a California gardener whom they are trying to arrest. There is no way that he represents any danger to them, especially because of their number and how they are holding him to the ground. Despite this, one of the agents started punching the gardener several times. You would think that he is threatening the agents because you just can’t comprehend what the guy did to deserve all these punches. The agent is punching his head as well, not caring if this could cause any major injury. He also pushes his head to the ground, which is another example of their violence. The punching continues until they make the man stand up and lead him to their car.
People Reacting to the California ICE Agents’ Brutality
Almost everyone was left horrified by what they just saw. Someone talked about how ICE hid their identity, so you can’t even hold them accountable. “No bodycams, no face, no badge, no empathy. This is a nightmare, and no one can do anything about it without being arrested themselves. No win situation. It’s gonna take another Rodney King uprising before they add bodycams and badges, at minimum,” they wrote. This made one person respond by saying, “Organize, assemble, arm up, resist. If that doesn’t happen this will only get worse. No one is going to save us.” When you reach the point where you believe that no one is going to save you, then you know that things are going downhill.
People’s shock made one person write, “This is so f**king insane what a shit show of ugliness.” Another pointed out that the other agents were trying to hide the one who was punching the California gardener. “Notice how they all kept a lookout as he kept punching the guy and you know they would b-line to who was recording if they noticed,” they said. This made someone compare this arrest to what happened to George Floyd. The level of violence shown made one Redditor say, “It honestly looks like they hired all the ‘proud boy’s’ to be ICE agents.” This won’t come across as a surprise. The worst thing is that you can’t do anything except hope that the California gardener is okay.
