Two kids in Illinois were caught on camera on a security camera throwing dumbbells at two parked cars, shattering the rear windshield of one vehicle before riding away on e-scooters.
A security camera outside the home where the cars were parked captured the incident. The footage showed two kids riding e-scooters before stopping in front of the house. One of them appeared to be carrying a dumbbell, which he then threw toward one of the parked cars. The first dumbbell appeared to miss its target.
The second kid then walked toward another parked car, picked up a dumbbell left behind it, and threw it at the rear window. The impact appeared to completely shatter the window, sending glass across the vehicle. After damaging the car, the kid ran back to his e-scooter and rode away with his friend, saying, “Holy [expletive].” It remains unclear whether the parked cars were specifically targeted or whether the two kids chose them at random.
A post shared alongside the video, claiming to be from the owner of the damaged vehicles, read, “All I do is help children, it’s too early for this 6:30 in the morning. I can’t catch a break! I have a lot on money invested in these cars.” The Nerd Stash could not independently verify that the post was written by the owner.
The alleged vandalism shown in the video contributed to a broader online conversation about incidents in which children and teenagers damage private property. Many viewers said they have seen similar videos of minors vandalizing cars, homes, and other belongings, and argued that such behavior is becoming more common.
The footage prompted calls for greater accountability, with many commenters saying parents should play a more active role in supervising their children and teaching them to respect other people’s property. Others argued that repeated acts of vandalism should be addressed by local authorities so that young people understand the consequences of damaging someone else’s belongings.
Viewers React After Video Shows Illinois Kids Damaging Parked Cars
The video sparked reactions online. Many viewers expressed outrage after watching the video of the two Illinois kids throwing dumbbells at parked cars. Some argued that the behavior reflected deeper problems and questioned whether the children would face meaningful consequences. “It is shocking how at such an early age, they are already lost to society. They will continue to be violent, destructive, and act like criminals instead of improving themselves and using the wealth of opportunities available to them to escape the cycle of poverty,” one person wrote. Another commenter said, “And the cops won’t do anything but tell you its an insurance claim.”
Others wondered whether the e-scooter company could help identify the kids. “Isn’t @limebike able to track their scooters based on location and who is using it?” one person asked. Another commenter called for severe consequences, writing, “Child prison for these 2 kids and arrest the parents for being [expletive]. 3 strikes your out of America.”
Although it remains unclear whether the two kids have been identified, the footage left many viewers hoping the security camera and the e-scooters could eventually lead investigators to whoever was responsible for the damage.
