Illinois Locals Mock Chicago Governor Johnson as He Claims He Is the ‘Stability’ the City Needs: ‘He Is Absurd at This Point’

Quite the statement

We all know that public figures, especially those involved in politics, will always be under strict scrutiny. And while it is always difficult to be careful about what one person says, there are some statements that should remain private, or at least that’s what some people in Chicago, Illinois, believe. For those unfamiliar, Governor Johnson recently described himself as the “stability” the city needed. However, many who saw the comment were quick to mock the claim, arguing they didn’t believe it reflected reality.

For context, the Chicago Sun-Times recently wrote a report about former Budget Director Guzman leaving her role. According to the note, this raised concerns among many Chicagoans, as they believe that Guzman leaving is a sign of instability.

With the word out, Governor Johnson said recently something that many found a bit controversial, even if his goal was to seemingly calm everyone’s minds about the current events. This week, Governor Johnson responded to claims of instability in the city by saying, “They have stability in me.”

Instead of calming concerns in the city and across Illinois, the statement appeared to have the opposite effect, as many people mocked the mayor’s remarks. Some also suggested that the administration was facing broader issues, pointing to several recent resignations.

Illinois Residents Don’t Think Johnson Is Providing Stability

The controversial statement quickly backfired, at least on Reddit, where many users shared their thoughts on the Governor’s “stability.”

“I laughed out loud when I heard this earlier. What a clown.“

“He’s absurd at this point.“

“Strong and stable? More like weak and wobbly.“

Others even pointed out that the Governor used other terms to describe himself, which seem a bit far-fetched, according to some.

“He called himself a visionary in this same speech, which is even more laughable.“

So far, the consensus seems to be that many want Johnson out. Other Redditors even say that they want to see him run again for Governor, only to vote against him, among other not-so-friendly opinions.

Opinions aside, people are genuinely worried to see people leave the administration. While Guzman left to take care of her mother, according to the above note, which is completely understandable, this isn’t the first time someone important leaves Johnson’s side in such a short time. So, it is only normal for those in Chicago to question how “stable” things truly are.
