Illinois Tired of DoorDash Drivers Who Act Like Rules Don’t Apply to Them, ‘They Don’t Care and Don’t Face Any Consequences’

Someone needs to stop them

We all know there are some jobs that demand speed and efficiency above all else. And while most people accept that, certain roles seem to attract a sense of entitlement that can frustrate the public. In this case, attention has turned to DoorDash drivers in Chicago, Illinois, where some residents claim a growing number of couriers are flouting traffic laws and treating busy streets like their own personal parking spaces. With little apparent enforcement, many locals say they’ve had enough of the behavior.

Why do so many DoorDash drivers do this?

One Redditor from Chicago shared their infuriating experience with a DoorDash driver. According to them, they were driving down the road when suddenly the DoorDash driver decided to abruptly stop to deliver food. However, instead of parking in the obvious empty spot that you can observe in the picture, they decided to park in the middle of the road, halting traffic and infuriating everyone behind this driver.

One would assume that this is a one-time thing, but the truth is, judging by the comments, there are several individuals who are fed up with DoorDash drivers as a whole, as they lack respect for traffic laws and those driving around the city.

You can just check some of the comments in the post to see just how angered Chicagoans are:

“They don’t care, and they don’t face any consequences,” commented one user.

“Because a lack of self-awareness or understanding how our decisions impact others is an epidemic in this country,” said another netizen.

The truth of it all is that, besides their behavior, the ones who are also at fault are police officers. As many also state in the comment, this isn’t only something that comes exclusively from DoorDash drivers. Several other citizens fail to respect traffic laws, which can lead to frustrating situations or, in certain cases, vehicular hazards.

While it seems delivery drivers tend to commit these infractions more often, this is a problem plaguing the city, and we need the police department to start enforcing traffic laws more seriously. Then again, this is something Chicagoans have been struggling with for ages, so we don’t think we’ll see a change any time soon.

The best thing people can do for now is keep documenting these entitled drivers and, hopefully, raise awareness so they start parking correctly, but that might be asking a lot of them.
