Pennsylvania Sen. John Fetterman mocked New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani over his promise to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu. Fetterman said Mamdani lacked authority to order the Israeli prime minister’s arrest. He also rejected Mamdani’s statement that Netanyahu was unwelcome in New York.
The video was shared on X and showed Fetterman criticizing Mamdani’s comments.
Fetterman said mayors can fix potholes and oversee trash collection. However, he said they cannot order anyone’s arrest. “You can’t order people to arrest anybody,” Fetterman said. He compared Mamdani’s authority with his own powers as a senator.
Fetterman said he could not order Mamdani’s arrest if the mayor entered Pennsylvania. “It’s a joke, and he’s a clown,” he said.
Fetterman then addressed Mamdani’s statement that Netanyahu was not welcome in New York. “You can’t say that any more than I can say, ‘Mayor, you’re not welcome in Pennsylvania,’” he said.
Fetterman accused Mamdani of pandering to his political base. He linked Mamdani’s anger toward Netanyahu to Sinwar, Nasrallah, and Qaani.
Fetterman claimed Mamdani criticizes Netanyahu but never condemns Hamas, Hezbollah, or Iran. He also accused Mamdani of ignoring Iran’s treatment of young democracy protesters.
Pennsylvania Reacts to John Fetterman’s Remarks
The clip drew praise for Fetterman and criticism of his argument about a mayor’s responsibilities.
“BRAVO Sen Fetterman! People must speak out loud and clear about this ridiculous but dangerous shell of a man, Mamdani,” one user wrote.
Another stated, “John Fetterman can be counted on as the voice of reason, logic and American patriotism.” A separate response said, “Fetterman is the last strand of sanity in the extremely frayed rope that is the modern day democrat party.”
Another user wrote, “I don’t agree with all of Fetterman’s views but somethings he absolutely makes sense on.”
Others challenged Fetterman’s remarks. One user asked, “Does Fetterman ever go on Fox to talk what HE is doing to make lives better for PA???”
Another questioned, “Oh excuse me, when did becoming mayor mean you stop caring about things outside your city?”
The exchange leaves unresolved whether Mamdani will answer Fetterman’s claim that a mayor cannot arrest Netanyahu or bar him.
