A new gameplay trailer for 2XKO has finally re-revealed Jinx riding the Arcane season 2 hype train straight to the fighting game station. The first glimpse we saw of her in action was ages ago when the game didn’t even have its art direction set, letting most believe that Jinx was a difficult character to get right. Riot Games has been cooking in the background and has finally revealed how Jinx plays in 2XKO, and that isn’t all the news for today.
The Jinx gameplay trailer for the 2XKO trailer mainly shows how the character plays along with her specials, supers, and overall abilities that make her different from the cast, better known as, the Sauce. But the accompanying blog post adds another gameplay video and goes into further detail about what Riot Games is changing about 2XKO after the Alpha Lab test held a couple of months ago.
Jinx looks and plays how you would expect. Her gadgets like chompers and rockets control space, while her other abilities bolster her combo options. One such inclusion is a shock state, which pauses an enemy in place for a continued combo. The end of the trailer shows her super which, according to the comments on the video, is one of the favorites right after Illaoi.
Fighting game fans here at The Nerd Stash really enjoyed the closed beta titled the Alpha Lab test, and in our detailed early impressions of the game we called it a solid start with some caveats that need ironing out. Some of those criticisms were the extremely long combos, some missing animations, and the lack of a detailed tutorial mode.
The people over at Riot Games believe that since the game is still developing, many changes need to be made before another opportunity for fans to get their hands on 2XKO. These changes include but are not limited to, creating more opportunities for team play, whether solo or duo, decreasing downtime by reducing the length of combos, and improving the overall controls.
The New Gameplay Changes In 2XKO After Jinx
Then come the new gameplay changes, at least the ones we were able to notice in the second gameplay video (which can be watched here on the 2XKO blog). The damage has been increased a lot, while the length of combos has gone down to a much more tolerable level. A new addition to the defensive arsenal of all players is the ability to do a tech roll forward on wake-up. While the Pushblock ability now uses the assist gauge instead of being unlimited.
Other smaller changes include some new animations, like how Retreating Guard, when punished by a low crush move, shows a shattering animation. The Burst gauge is now at the bottom of the life bar and shows the word “Save” instead. Most interestingly, however, there is one major gameplay change that isn’t obvious at first glance. Assists can not be improved by using the super meter of the assist character, allowing players to do more damaging combos straight from an assist, instead of having to tag them like before.
If you are looking forward to a release date, get in line, because it isn’t happening anytime soon. According to Riot Games, the next playtest is planned for Spring 2025, which means this game isn’t even close to coming out by the end of 2025, we’ll actually get GTA 6 before we get 2XKO. Although the development is coming along fine, it is extremely slow and may hurt the overall hype the game has created.
