Kirby keeps on coming with new and exciting abilities. Earlier today, we had our first major Nintendo Direct of the year. A detailed gameplay trailer for Kirby and the Forgotten Land was released. Overall, it provided fans with a juicy three-minute segment that went over many game details! It delved into the villainous Beast Corps to keep fans interested. But more importantly, it gave us a look at a gaggle of new features in this Kirby Switch game. It seems we’ll be getting more than just new copy abilities this time. Check out the trailer below for more.
So Much Stuffed In That This Land Won’t Be Forgotten
One of the most interesting (and surprising) new features of Kirby’s second Switch iteration is something called Mouthful Mode. By using Kirby’s enormous gullet and vortex-like power, he can inhale and control objects! It may be that this was inspired by Cappy in Super Mario Odyssey. It seems Kirby can turn into cars, fans, or hang-gliders. The gameplay trailer shows that these modes will be essential to Kirby’s traversal of the Forgotten Land. Above all, players themselves will have such a mouthful that it’ll be hard to forget this Kirby game for a long time.
Upgraded Abilities to Keep Things Fresh
Another impressive feature to get excited about is an upgrade system for copy abilities! In retrospect, the idea of upgraded or enhanced abilities is nothing new to the series. Things like that were present on Kirby’s Return to Dream Land, long before this one was announced. That said, this is the first official upgrade system. It seems by saving Waddle Dees, a town with a weapon shop expands. By heading there, all the normal copy powers that fans love can get upgraded in new ways! Beyond the Dragon Fire ability, there’s also Volcano Fire. Many other abilities had upgraded debuts in the trailer, such as Hammer and Ice.
With so many upgrades at hand, fans will have plenty to be excited about until March. Kirby and the Forgotten Land releases on March 25 on Nintendo Switch.
