Khloe Kardashian fans were stunned last week when the brand new trailer for Season 6 of her family‘s reality show was revealed. In the clips, it was announced that she and her ex-husband, Lamar Odom, had reunited. This was an unexpected turn of events as the couple have seemingly had no contact with one another in years. However, Odom is now dishing the details about how the reunion came to be, and his surprise over finding cameras there to capture it all.
After the trailer dropped, Lamar Odom had an interview with the Kyle and Jackie O Show. During the tell-all, the former NBA player revealed that a mutual friend actually helped him reconnect with Khloe Kardashian.
Odom admitted that last year he met up with his pal and Kardashian’s best friend, Malika Haqq. The ex-athlete says that he and Malika caught up and that it was her idea to get Khloe and Lamar back together for a heart-to-heart.
“I bumped into [Malika] in Las Vegas,” Lamar said “I think it was Super Bowl weekend. She came to me, she said, ‘Lamar, I think it’s time for you and Khloé to [meet] … it’s been years. You haven’t seen her. If you’re up for it, I think I can make it happen.’”
Lamar Odom Dishes Details On His Reunion With Khloe Kardashian
It seems that Malika worked her magic because after her run-in with Lamar, the reunion with Khloe was in the works. In the trailer, Odom is seen visiting Kardashian’s Hidden Hills home with a bouquet of red roses in his hand. When he entered the mansion, he had a look of surprise on his face. Now, fans know why. Lamar says he was a bit surprised to see cameras there to film his reunion with Khloe. However, he wasn’t upset by the situation.
“I went there, and there were cameras there, and I was like, ‘Oh, all right,’” Lamar explained. “It’s cool, I understand it, you know.”
Odom was also asked if he was still in love with Kardashian and if the pair had any plans to rekindle their romance. The NBA champ didn’t divulge much on that topic. However, he did keep it classy by revealing that he would feel very blessed just to be called Khloe’s friend again.
“It’d be a blessing just to be a friend, just to be around her,” he declared.
Khloe and Lamar married in 2009, just one month after meeting, and quickly got engaged (via Us Weekly). The pair eventually split when Odom’s personal demons, such as infidelity and substance abuse, were revealed. However, after a near-fatal overdose, Khloe called the divorce off and stayed by Lamar’s side as he recovered.
Finally, in 2016, the duo officially ended their marriage. Kardashian went on to fall for NBA player Tristan Thompson. The couple later welcomed two children together, but their love story was also a complicated one. They eventually split for good before the birth of their son in 2022.
Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom‘s reunion may have been more about closure than rekindling their romance. However, it’s nice to see that they can be respectful of one another and all that they once shared. Fans are now dying to see more of the reunion when The Kardashians returns for Season 6 on Hulu in February.
