John Stamos is facing the brunt of his decision to attend a Mar-a-Lago event! On April 5, The Full House star emceed the Palm Beach Ray of Hope gala held at Donald Trump’s Florida estate. However, his appearance at the event was met with backlash from fans who tagged him tone-deaf, considering the current political climate.
Days after being called out, Stamos responded to the comments, but no amount of explanation could spare him from further admonishment. The Born to Ride actor defended himself with a lengthy statement describing his involvement at the event.

“I accepted the invitation to emcee the Palm Beach Ray of Hope Gala — an evening dedicated to honoring and uplifting our frontline heroes,” read the statement posted to his Instagram stories.
Stamos clarified that the event was in no way political. Instead, it was hosted to support the Academy for Nursing and Health Occupations. The organization trains 350-400 nurses yearly, thereby addressing the shortage of healthcare professionals in Palm Beach County.
“Supporting nurses isn’t political– it’s essential,” Stamos declared before highlighting the importance of healthcare workers. “These are the people who care for us and our families when we need it most, and I believe we should show up for them with the same unwavering dedication they show up with every single day.”
The ABC star ended his message by strongly emphasizing his political stance. “My values and political views remain unchanged,” the 61-year-old declared, encouraging people to donate to a charity cause. He shared a link tagged “Democracy Forward,” belonging to a non-profit organization that fights for democracy.
John Stamos’s Excuse Rejected By Angry Fans
Unfortunately, the Grandfathered alum’s defense was met with more criticism. A netizen lashed at the sitcom star, condemning the way he showed support.
“I’m a nurse & that’s the last way we need support Stamos,” wrote the critic. “You’re a sellout. Admit it & move on. You’ll do anything for a paycheck.”
This user added, “Supporting nazis is. If you hang out with a Nazi, you’re a Nazi.” Another commenter pointed out, “Mar-a-Lago is inherently political. He is a MAGA sympathizer.”
A fourth observer added, “Even if he had the best of intentions, he has his head in the sand if he doesn’t see how going there could be seen as political.”
A fifth person suggested other ways the actor could have shown support. “IDGAF. If you go to Mar-a-lago or buy a Tesla in 2025, we know where you stand. Wanna support nurses, go protest the hospitals to raise wages.“
Fans’ anger towards John Stamos is understandable, given that he is a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party. He even endorsed Kamala Harris in the previous election.
