MultiVersus took over the gaming industry by storm. Since the game’s Open Beta debut, it has continued to attract more players towards it. Today, Warner Bros. Games has revealed that the free-to-play Smash Bros-esque platformer, MultiVersus has surpassed over 20 million registered users.
The game also topped Elden Ring as NPD’s best-selling game in the US for the month of July 2022, just through its paid Founders Pack despite being free. Keeping in mind that MultiVersus is Player First Games’ first ever game and is still in its Open Beta stage makes the milestone even more impressive.
There’s no surprise that the game has managed to pull so many players in such a short time, thanks to its cast of iconic characters. Classic DC heroes, including Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, lead the character roster alongside everyone’s childhood favorites Tom and Jerry, Shaggy, and Buggs Bunny making MultiVersus irresistible.
With more regular updates planned for the future and the constant addition of characters from Warner Bros.’ huge IP roster, MultiVersus will not stop gaining massive leaps in their player count anytime soon. As of right now, there is Rick and Morty, Black Adam, and Stripe from Gremlins planned just for Season 1. The game will bring an array of new modes for Season 1, like the Classic Arcade and Ranked Mode as well.
This number is only bound to grow once the game leaves its Open Beta stage and opens its servers worldwide (MultiVersus is still unavailable in regions such as Asia). The last reported milestone for the game was on 9 August, when it surpassed 10 million players. To think a game still in its beta phase has doubled its player count in under two weeks is absolutely bonkers!
You can join in on the fun as MultiVersus Open Beta is available now for free on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Let’s see how long it takes before MultiVersus’ 20 million milestone turns into 30 million!
