Hoopa and the Clash of Ages has been announced as the next Pokémon movie. The feature will once again follow Pokémon trainer Ash, Pikachu, and friends as they meet Hoopa, a Pokemon with the ability to summon people and Pokémon with its magical rings.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of Hoopa. In the last two iterations of games, X & Y, and Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, Hoopa was found by hackers in the game code.

The movie trailer, which can be viewed below (and courtesy of the Official Pokemon Channel) shows Ash meeting Hoopa, followed by the appearance of multitudes of legendary Pokémon. You can watch as Hoopa uses its rings to open portals to summon Pokémon, but what’s happened in the world that’s brought all these legendary creatures together? The trailer reveals some clues. A man depicted in the opening image is attempting to break open a seal. And then there’s the mystery of Hoopa itself and how it connects with the events of the movie. An epic battle between some of the most powerful Pokémon not only seems inevitable, but exciting.

Did you spot your favorite legendary Pokémon in the trailer? Are you excited for the newest adventure for Ash and friends? Hoopa and the Clash of Ages releases this summer in Japan, and later this year in the U.S.
