New York Mother Says Neighbors Confronted Her Son While He Sat in His Own Backyard: ‘He Never Said a Word’

Were they showing their racial bias?

A New York mother is speaking out after her Ring camera captured what she believes was a racially motivated confrontation involving her son and a pair of neighbors. The video shows the couple approaching the 23-year-old as he relaxes in his backyard, leading to a tense exchange that has since gone viral online.

Like a couple of nosy neighbors, Katrina shares that the two immediately began questioning her son, as if he was in some way a threat. The neighbors even went as far as to remove a piece of their fence, which Katrina clarifies is owned by the neighbors and reveals in an update video, just so they could trespass on Katrina’s property.

The questions were allegedly hostile. According to Katrina, the couple lectured her son, asking him “what he’s doing in their backyard.” The elderly man is seen pointing his finger at Katrina’s son, while he just sits there silently. In the Ring video, you can see the man continue to lecture Katrina’s son as he literally never responds or says a word to him. Katrina said her son “held his composure” but then went inside and told her what happened.

Katrina asks her audience, “If Black people are always the problem and the aggressor, and we’re the violent ones,” then why do people think it’s okay to approach others like this? She said those same people would “cry” and play the victim if someone fought back.

The Internet responds by giving Katrina legal advice

In addition to offering Katrina suggestions on how to prevent similar incidents in the future, many viewers also mocked her neighbors after watching what they believed was a racially motivated confrontation.

“It’s crazy how they just appear,” one TikTok joked, while another compared their sudden presence to the vampires in hit 2025 movie Sinners. Another commenter made a comment that “white privilege” needed to be studied, which Katrina responded to, saying it “needs to be ABOLISHED.”

Others urged Katrina to call the police and have the neighbors “formally trespassed.” With ‘no trespassing’ signs up, “they can be arrested” the next time they do something like that. If they’re willing to ruin their own fence, it might just happen again.

As a deterrent for possible encounters in the future, Katrina posted in her update video of her erecting several ‘no trespassing’ signs. She even placed one against her shed, just outside the section of fence the couple moved away to trespass into Katrina’s yard.
