Previously, Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo got in hot water for over-promoting or spoiling things about a Marvel project. In an interview with ComicBook to promote his new Paramount film Secret Headquarters, Owen Wilson revealed he got in some trouble for Loki.
While Owen Wilson confirmed Loki season 2 is filming in London, he had to stifle his answer because Marvel is “uptight.”
“I immediately get kind of self-conscious because they’re so kind of uptight,” he said. When asked by Secret Headquarters director Ariel Schulman asked if he got in trouble when promoting Loki, Owen Wilson said that it has happened “multiple times.”
An incident that can be pointed out was a reveal by Owen Wilson about his character in Loki, in an interview last year with Esquire magazine that the mustache reveal got him an “ominous” text message. To this day, he is still unclear who sent the message and what it could have entailed if he had gone further with more details.
“I let it slip that I had a mustache for Mobius. I got an ominous text saying ‘Strike 1.’ I don’t know who that was, we think it might have been Kevin Feige using a burner phone, but that wasn’t confirmed.”
Owen Wilson has been in trouble with Marvel over Loki talk
Talking about Loki and his character does not put the actor up as the first to get in trouble. Ruffalo infamously livestreamed the first few minutes of Thor: Ragnarok as he did not realize that he did not turn off the stream when the film started. He also revealed the mass amounts of death that conclude Avengers: Infinity War. Meanwhile, Holland had excitedly told a theater full of fans about Infinity War, and he even spoiled Endgame for Zendaya.
Owen Wilson plays Mobius in Loki. The Time Variance Authority is the agency he is a part of, which oversees the sacred timeline to ensure nothing goes out of line with what is supposed to happen in the main MCU timeline. He recruits the God of Mischief to find a variant of Tom Hiddleston’s fan-favorite character.
Loki is currently nominated for six Emmys. The series is currently available on Disney Plus.
